The question is, was he ever actually in?
That interview with Aaron Sorkin seemed to solidify Bale's casting as Steve Jobs in Danny Boyle's upcoming biopic, but we never had any rock solid confirmation beyond that. Now that we're hearing that "the actor came to the conclusion he was not right for the part and decided to withdraw," we know that the actor had yet to sign on the dotted line, and has now left the decidedly Oscar bait-y role for someone else.
Boyle will apparently be making the rounds in L.A. this week looking to fill out his cast, so don't be surprised if there's a DOCTOR STRANGE-level revolving door of possible Jobs' now that the first two choices, Leondardo DiCaprio and now Bale, are out. Shooting this winter seems to be off the table; whomever they pick would ostensibly want some time to get into the Apple founder's shoes, and not in the Speedy Gonzalez way Ashton Kutcher did last year.
Seth Rogen's still in negotiations to play Steve Wozniak, so it's not like they're out in the woods with nothing, but as long as it's taken, I'd imagine it's going to be a little longer for us to see the Aaron Sorkin take on the life of Steve Jobs.
