Hercules Says Ben Edlund’s First Teleplay For GOTHAM Is Easily The Best Since The Series’ Pilot!!

I am – Hercules!!

Gotham 1.6 FAQ

What’s it called?
“Spirit of the Goat.”

Who’s responsible?
Teleplay is credited to “Tick” mastermind Ben Edlund (“Firefly,” “Angel,” “The Venture Bros.,” “The Inside,” “Supernatural,” “Revolution”).

What says Fox?
“When a killer begins targeting the first-born of Gotham’s elite, Bullock (Donal Logue) is forced to confront traumatic memories from a nearly identical case on which he previously worked. Later, Gordon (Ben McKenzie) is confronted by past decisions. Guest Cast: Carol Kane as Gertrud Cobblepot, Dan Hedaya as Detective Dix, Kim Director as Lacey White, Mackenzie Leigh as Liza, Susan Misner as Dr. Marks and Christopher Baker as The Goat/Raymond Earl.”

Did Gertrud Kapelput change her name?
Why not?

How does it start?
Gotham City: Ten Years Ago. “I am the spirit of the goat,” a troubled man explains to his mirror as he pulls on what looks very much like The Batman’s cowl.

Gordon is confronted by past decisions? Does Falcone confront Gordon over the fact that Cobblepot draws breath?
Not this week. But you’re warm.

Does Alfred Pennyworth lock Bruce Wayne in Stately Wayne Basement when he hears of a killer targeting rich kids?
“Perhaps the lake house. You like it there, don’t you?”

What about Gordon girlfriend Barbara Kean? She comes from money, right?
Barbara is unmolested by Goatboy this week; perhaps she has an older brother who lives out of town.

Does Jada Pinkett-Smith tone it the fuck down this week?
Fish Mooney is wholly absent from this episode. Also? The girl who plays Selina Kyle didn’t have to memorize any lines for this episode.

The big news?
This is my favorite episode of “Gotham” since the pilot.

What else is Fox not telling us?
A GCPD file clerk named Kristen Kringle is introduced this week. I suspect she renders Riddler tumescent.

What’s good?
The episode’s Fish-free nature. Dan Hedaya, an inspired choice to play Bullock’s ex-partner. Nygma’s questionmug. The bats. “Copygoat.” “Demon-purse.” “That’s great news.” “We’re going to go with Milke!” “We don’t open The Black Box ever.” “Those are awful magazines, detective.” “For murder, corruption and few things quite frankly we’re going to have to name after you.”

What’s not so good?
I was going to mention that the final action beat plays a little like something out of “The Naked Gun,” then I decided that might not necessarily manifest a negative.

How does it end, spoiler boy?
“You son of a bitch!!”

8 p.m. Monday. Fox.
