LIONS GATE GEARS UP FOR MANN'S HOT ROD PIC

(Toronto Film Festival) Lions Gate Films proudly announces the acquisition of "Confessions of a Hotroddin', Pinstripin', Kustomizin', Teenage Icon" from Ron Mann the acclaimed director of "Grass", "Twist", and "Comic Book Confidential".

Mann's homage to speed freaks centers on Ed "Big Daddy" Roth, the subject of Tom Wolfe's book, "The Kandy Kolored Tangerine Flake Streamline Baby". Roth gained fame in the 60s with his sculpted custom cars "The Beatnik Bandit", "Mysterion", "The Outlaw" and for the rebel cult figure Rat Fink and other eye-popping monster art creations.

With a budget of 1.2 million, the theatrical documentary will be produced by ChumCity and Mann's company Sphinx Productions. Lions Gate has acquired all North American distribution rights except for Canadian broadcast rights which were hauled in by ChumCity. Sales outside North America will be steered by Films Transit.
