Simon Kinberg Offers A Teeny Hint About The Tone Of The New FANTASTIC FOUR Movie!!

There’s been a great deal of hubbub as to what the hell kind of movie Josh Trank seems to be making with his FANTASTIC FOUR reboot, scheduled to arrive in theaters next Summer.

We’re hearing all kinds of talk, and seeing things which are confusing as hell.  Like THIS image of Mumm-Ra Doctor Doom against a green screen, or star Michael B. Jordan’s recent indications that our heroes would be wearing some kind of ‘containment suits’ as opposed to their iconic spandex body suits.  And, it’s sounding like such matters may not be cleared up anytime soon…

Writer/Producer Simon Kinberg recently spoke to ComicBook.com about the film’s progress, indicating that…“we want to make sure that the first thing we put out really expresses the voice of the movie, and isn’t compromised by not having visual effects ready, or anything like that.”

Which I fully understand, although I’d also argue that too much silence and mystery can also lead to pre-conceptions which can ultimately damage a film’s chances of performing well.

Kinberg goes on to, kinda/sorta, characterize the tone of the film we’ll get when FF hits screens August 2015:

"It is a very different film from the others, and one that I think is very different from other superhero movies. It’s a very emotional, character-driven, more grounded film than I think people are anticipating.”

This isn’t altogether surprising given Trank’s work on CHRONICLE, but it does seem to affirm that…whatever we end up getting…will be something off-the-beaten-path in terms of superhero movies.
