Hey folks, Harry here with the first post-birth of Kublakhan posting from the glorious the glamorous... that gal with the horns coming right out of her head... SISTER SATAN. She's been busy cleaning up belching brimstone coughups and sulphuric leaks from the newborn... But when she got a look see at this script called DEMONS IN APARTMENT 3C... well, she's all about the common domesticated earthbound demon... From her description this sounds like an expensive but VERY COOL project... Hopefully this script will land somewhere... Here ya go...
Hey everybody Sister Satan back from the cave with a review of the demonic kind, finally being able to crawl around the cave again I found beneath a pile of wicked toys "THE DEMONS IN APARTMENT 3C" poking its cover page at me, it instantly caught my attention *(for reasons obvious to anyone with half a brain)* I snatch it up into my claws and leaped into it....
This hilarious great script was written by two writers unknown to me (or anyone else it seems) Mark Yoshimoto and John Mickevich and I must say these guys are funny and talented, jam packing this 116 page script with devilish-humor, irony, and great demons you identify with on the first page. Whoever these guys are I would love to see more of their work and know their plans for this film.
The script takes off in hell two demons, MICKEY and RUBEN, tormenters of tarpit number seven-zero-six-three, are going about their dark work of torturing damned souls when suddenly they get an incoming damned swan molesting-breast implant quality control manager for Dow Chemical businessman Claudius Hardaway. Cladius unhappy with landing in hell catches the demons off guard takes Ruben hostage with Mickeys pitchfork and escapes to earth, Mickey being the one held responsible for the escape is sentenced to life...
Life, no not life in torment or imprisonment but life on earth until the end of humanity.
Now on earth he is still a demon however humans only see him in human form, but other demons, angels, imps, dragons, animals and so on can see the true form of him. In his imprisonment he must only follow one rule... he can not do any evil whatsoever. OK so here's this demon walking around doing fine seeing all these other beings and doing no evil, he takes up a couple hobbies yadda yadda yadda, then his friend Ruben breaks out of hell, and well all hell breaks loose cause of his friend's rash decision.
Mickeys Character: this is a nice guy/demon whom is bored with his life on earth after being thrown out of hell and is incredibly paranoid about breaking the one rule and being cast into hell as a damned soul not because of the eternal pain, but cause all his old buddies would be laughing up storm at him. He's single and his hobbies are playing horribly the trumpet, and building doll houses.[while in his human form I pictured him as a John Cusack kinda guy]
Squirrel: well he is a squirrel, also the world's first shrink, (first client-Adam after being kicked out of Eden)he treats all the demons and angels in Boston (oh yeah I forgot to mention Mickey lives in Boston-sorry)
Ruben: defiant demon who hates his boss, loves his job of torturing, is a good friend however always trouble...
Gwen: pretty but also kinda nerdy, shy, single neighbor of Mickeys who gets tangled up in the whole Hell coming to earth thing [I pictured Heather Graham with glasses ]
OK folks you may be thinking "Hey sister you're ruining the film for us by tellin the whole plot !" Well I just told ya the first five pages so dont come after me with your holy crucifix.
Anywhoo--this is a script I really enjoyed, with all the cool dialog and a kick ass story line it really rocks. Because of all the effects demanded by creating hell and all the characters this film will need a pretty high budget. I am hoping the creators opt for make-up and limit the computer animation with the characters mainly cause if done totally by computer I dont think it will look as realistic but computer animation is gonna be needed a lot for many things. I truly love the way they are stylizing the characters, they say they want the demons to look more chiseled like the gargoyles of Notre Dame this could be extremely cool if done right, however if done wrong it could really take away from the flick, but since it has such a solid storyline it would still be well worth theaters and filmgoers. Hopefully this could be Rick Baker's project after PLANET OF THE APES.
This flick if I had to compare to others to give you a feel for it I would say it would be right on the shelf next to Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness as well as next to Dogma, but it is closer to Evil Dead. And since I LOVE, LOVE EVIL DEAD 2 & ITS SEQUEL that tells you I am not pussyfooting around. I really hope to see this project become a reality, and I hope it gets a budget worthy of the script, if it doesn't there are some people in Hollywood who need to visit tarpit number 7063 because this is one of those culty movies that millions with twisted senses of humor would love.
And if anyone out there in cyber space knows whats going on with this script and its writers PLEASE let at least me know whats going on with it/them.And this is it from lil'sista satan for now...
