Well, its goodbye from sunny Venice, and Father Geek for one is going to miss these great reports that Robert Bernocchi and his crew have been sending us by way of Ozy in Dublin. Maybe they can do this for us from other festivals as well. We can use guys and gals like this in Berlin, Cannes, and at all the fests throughout Europe. This was wonderful. If you enjoyed these as much as Father Geek did, check out their Italian site and drop them an E-Mail. Then, possibily, they'll decide to cover other Euro-events for us in the future....
Hey all, Ozymandias here.....
All together now...... Awwwwhhhh.... Today marks the last of our exclusive reports from the world renowned Venice International Film Festival all put together by our chief reporter there Robert and his team from the excellent La Finestra sul Cortile.
I know I speak on behalf of myself in Dublin, Edgard in Paris and Harry, Father Geek and everyone in Austin, Texas when I offer huge congratulations and thanks to them from all of us for their stirling work over the last ten days or so to bring us a clutch of fantastic reviews, stories, press conferences, interviews, and even video footage from one of the world's top movie events.
Maybe if you get a moment you'd like to thank them yourself in the talkback below or actually check out their site by CLICKING RIGHT HERE (I don't speak a word of Italian and I think it's brill!) Remember boys and girls they're movie geeks just like us who did all of this for the sheer love of the movies...
So now, for the final time this year, it's over to Robert.....

Hi Ozy,
And this year's winners in beautiful Venice, Italy are...
Golden Lion: Dayereh by Jafar Panahi
Special prize of the Jury: Before Night Falls by Julian Schnabel
Best director: Uttara by Buddhadeb Dasgupta
Best screenplay: The Hundred Steps by Marco Tullio Giordana
Best actor: Javier Bardem for Before Night Falls by Julian Schnabel
Best actress: Rose Byrne for The Goddess of 1967 by Clara Law
Everybody awaited the Golden Lion for Dayereh. The movie by Jafar Panahi was perfect for a festival competition. It's Iranian, it's political, it's an auteur film. A little surprise arrived by Before Night Falls. The prize for the movie is a shame, Schnabel is not a director. Javier Bardem is a good actor, but his character is ridicolous. The Indian director Dasgupta is a very interesting director, but his movie lacks a history. Nothing to say about Rose Byrne: we're very happy for her.
See you next year from Venice
Robert Bernocchi, Giovanni Colucci e Francesco Alò (La Finestra sul Cortile)
