If you were lucky enough to see John Woo’s RED CLIFF in its full and proper two part form (as opposed to the horribly abridged single installment which was trundled out to be dismissed by many), you realize the helmer still has a considerable amount of fuel left in his creative engine - and more than a few tricks up his sleeve.
Which makes me pretty excited to see what’s in store for us when THE CROSSING eventually finds its way to our screens. The film tells the true story of a steamer called Taiping, which sank after a collision with another vessel. Over 1,500 lives were lost in the 1949 incident. Although, interestingly, you couldn’t necessarily sense this focus from the new trailer embedded below.
This trailer comes to us via Empire, although the embed was lifted from YouTube (couldn’t get Empire’s embed to play nicely with your system). THE CROSSING begins its release pattern later this year.
