Hey folks, Harry here... Right now, you are hearing from all over the place that BRAD PITT is going to be in the next Batman film.... then you read that GEORGE CLOONEY in not only going to be Batman, but that he has written his own treatment for the film that takes the character into a Dark Knight territory. Oh yeah, you've also read that he's recently signed up for two more BATMAN movies.
AHEM!!! The Brad Pitt rumor started with Darren Aronofsky... now, if you have been paying attention at all to the career of Brad Pitt, you'll realize that his plate is pretty damn full. He's got OCEAN'S ELEVEN and TO THE WHITE SEA coming up, which would mean that at the earliest, he wouldn't be able to play the cowled crusader till sometime in 2002... ahem, Warners is jazzed to move faster than this.
As for Clooney, this is stuff taken from an interview he did with MOVIELINE, and is really being taken a bit out of context. Back in the day... BATMAN & ROBIN time period, Clooney was signed to a deal where Warner's had the option on him for 2 more swinging rodent flicks. BACK AT THAT TIME... he also developed a treatment for where he wanted to see the BATMAN franchise go... It didn't go there.
Right now.... Only BATMAN BEYOND has forward progression. Boaz Yakin, Paul Dini, Alan Burnett and Neal Stephenson have all been meeting and hammering out a treatment for the film, before they pound out a script. There is no casting going on as best I can tell.
On the Darren Aronofsky front, I still hear that he and Frank Miller are allegedly hammering out a script... but noone is confirming this. They are not near the Casting stage... they have no greenlights... neither does BATMAN BEYOND yet.
The BATMAN franchise properties are in DEVELOPMENT.... nothing more at this stage of the game. There is a lot of speculation going on right now online... just chill... I'm sorting through it all....
