Who would Bill Murray like to see as the all-new, all-female GHOSTBUSTERS?!

All of a sudden, it's like Bill Murray kinda gives a shit about what happens to the third GHOSTBUSTERS movie.

He dropped this sorta-funny, sorta-sexist tidbit to Access Hollywood (via Schmoes Know) about the proposed all-female GHOSTBUSTERS reboot that Paul Feig's currently developing:

It sounds great to me. It sounds as good an idea as any other! There are a lot of women that could scare off any kind of vapor! No, it’s a grand idea, I don’t know who they’re talking about, but it’s a good idea, I would watch it!  I mean, I love Robert Palmer’s videos, so why wouldn’t I love the female GHOSTBUSTERS?

So Murray's idea of a reference to contemporary feminism is the androgynous back-up players in the "Addicted To Love" and "Simply Irresistable" videos. Can't decide whether to smile or wince.

Then, the Murricane discussed his choices for the new, Y chromosome-free GHOSTBUSTERS with the Toronto Star:

“I would go to that movie, and they’d probably have better outfits, too…Melissa (McCarthy) would be a spectacular Ghostbuster. And Kristen Wiig is so funny — God, she’s funny! I like this girl Linda Cardellini (MAD MEN) a lot. And Emma Stone is funny. There are some funny girls out there.”

Stone, Wiig, and McCarthy have all come up a lot when proposing potential lady GHOSTBUSTERS, but Cardellini is a name I fear we won't be hearing too much of as this project goes forward. Despite winning accolades for her contributions to FREAKS & GEEKS, SCOOBY DOO, and MAD MEN (not to mention her unforgettable rendition of "Push It" in GRANDMA'S BOY), she's more of a cult favorite than a bonafide movie star like the other three. Knowing that Murray is a Cardellini fan is cool enough, but the idea that she stands aside those other three stars in his mind is another example of the former Dr. Venkman's impeccable taste.

There's still no word as to whether this new incarnation is appealing enough to Murray to entice him to make an appearance, but this may be the most positive he's sounded regarding another GHOSTBUSTERS movie as I've ever heard, so who knows?

Anyway, Mr. Feig, please take Murray's advice, and at least take a meeting with Linda Cardellini. It's not like you guys don't know each other.
