“Utopia” is a show from “Big Brother” producer John De Mol that smells a lot like summer’s top hit “Big Brother. A bunch of good-looking people (one of whom looks a lot like “Agents of SHIELD” actress Ming-Na) are stuck together as cameras watch them 24/7.
As with “Big Brother,” viewers can watch 24/7 feeds of the contestants’ activities. Unlike “Big Brother,” the show offers the feeds for only $4.99 per month. One can already watch a free sample right here right now.
Another big difference is Fox intends to keep “Utopia” going for 52 weeks instead of “Big Brother’s” usual 13.
Finally, WGN’s atomic-bomb series “Manhattan” is my new Sunday-night “I’m the only one watching” cable show (replacing AMC’s “Halt and Catch Fire”) and I’m pretty sure the main reason I’m still watching is 33-year-old piping hot Dutch actress Katja Herbers, who plays genius nuclear physicist Dr. Helen Prins. Leave it to Hollywood to cast another supermodel as another supernerd. This is what she looks like when they’re not trying to trick us into thinking she’s the Girl Next Door:
