Hello ladies and gentlemen, your pal Muldoon here with this week's edition of SATURDAY SHORTS - where we screen fun short films from some damn talented AICN readers out there. The greatest thing about this little column we've got ourselves here is variety, the spice of life. Each week when you fine folks click on that title link, hopefully you have no clue what you're in for - you just trust that something screened will rock your world in some way or another. Well friends, this week is all about variety, it's not quite a comedy block/action block/ block block that I typically like to set up. This week was indeed supposed to be a block of horror, but there were a few non-horror shorts I flipped for and wanted to share with my fellow AICN readers. So yeah, there's a random fun factor at play this week and I hope you ladies and gents dig them.
Go grab yourself some popcorn, lock your kids in a closet, kill the lights, relax and check out this little weekly film fest we've got ourselves here:
RISE OF THE KITCHEN APPLIANCES
TRT: 12:04
(Black Comedy)
Boom! Let's kick this funky shindig off with a pretty "out there" short from Stimson Snead. If you're looking for a chuckle and a half, this one's got you covered (and then some). " The appliances of bachelor Steve Fleegman have had enough. Too much pizza, too much mess, just too much. The appliances will now finally fight back against their abusive human master. The revolution has begun with the Rise Of The Kitchen Appliances! ROTKA! With Emo Philips, Jacqueline Steiger and Philip Wilburn."
THE APPRENTICE
TRT: 6:03
(Comedy)
Our next film stars the ever so charming Anton Yelchin and comes to us via the quick witted director Steve Baker (Saturday Shorts alumn!). This one's an oddity as it was originally created for the film MOVIE 43, which I'm sure the bulk of you folks remember and regard very fondly (come on, I know a bunch of you dug it!). Well here we have a story that was a little too "fucked up" for the film. I love it and think you guys will too. Keep kicking ass, Steve! "Meet Wayne, apprentice mortician. He's about to have the night of his life."

THE KOAN
TRT: 3:00
(Drama / Suspense)
Our next film came to me via the film's lead, Andy Manjuck, who's pretty damn good in the thing. "A man comes across an abandoned car parked at a crossroads. He is drawn towards the car and does not know why, but gets in despite his better judgment." If you like what you see, check out more from director Ted Day and the Hustlemilk crew.
WHITE MEAT
TRT: 19:23
(Comedy)
Our last film of the week is something to sink your teeth into (I mean if you're into that). From director Michael Everett Lowney we have ourselves an original as hell head scratcher of a fun flick. "The story tells of a young man born with a one of a kind imperfection. He suffers abuse from his pals and others around him until one day luck meets him at a urinal."
White Meat from True Tale Productions on Vimeo.
That's it for this week ladies and gentlemen, I'll be back next week with another handful of fun films I think should be seen by the badasses of AICN (and non-badasses also). I have no clue what it's going to consist of, but that's half the fun. Thanks for reading/watching - I'll see you fine folks later!

If you have a short and think it belongs here or are on the fence about whether to send it in, please do send it in - I'd love to see what you've put together. I've already seen hundreds of fresh new filmmakers' shorts and like any good addict, I need more!
Shoot me an email at "Mike@aintitcool.com"
In the subject line include:
“SHORTS” + “Your film’s name” + “The film’s genre”
Then, in the body of the email, please include a synopsis of the film and any contact information you might think I need or would want published. The more info you send my way, the more info there is to put with your short.
Please don’t feel the need to submit multiple times.
Remember, the filmmakers might still be in the audience, so feel free to share your thoughts in Talkbacks below. (JUST DON'T BE AN ASSHOLE). I picked them, so you know I think highly of all of these, but how about you fine folks? How'd you like 'em?
BY THE WAY: If you've had a short featured here, that means that I personally am a fan of your work, so feel free to shoot me any kind of news on new projects/films/whatever. I can't say I'll be able to help or in what capacity, but I'm interested in your work and am always down to see more! (Keep making cool stuff, everyone!)
