Hey guys! Horrorella here...
My first exposure to the concept of the legendary Bigfoot was through HARRY AND THE HENDERSONS. Great flick, and a big part of my childhood -but it probably wasn't accurately preparing me for the next time I head out to a cabin in the woods with all of my overly-attractive friends and we get cornered by none other than a real live Sasquatch.
Fortunately, Eduardo Sanchez (half of the team behind THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT, LOVELY MOLLY) has that issue under control. EXISTS fouses on exactly that premise, and though the trailer doesn't give us too many detailed shot of Bigfoot, there are enough quick glimpses to let us know that he is in no way cuddly or sweet. He's a scary monster that will eat your face and crush every bone in your body.
“For five friends, it was a chance for a summer getaway— a weekend of camping in the Texas Big Thicket. But visions of a carefree vacation are shattered with an accident on a dark and desolate country road. In the wake of the accident, a bloodcurdling force of nature is unleashed—something not exactly human, but not completely animal— an urban legend come to terrifying life…and seeking murderous revenge.“
The trailer seems pretty standard, but I have high hopes. The film won the audience award at SXSW, and I was a fan of Sanchez's 2011 LOVELY MOLLY. Plus, I'm looking forward to seeing how he handles the Bigfoot myth, as this creature is not often covered in horror cinema. What do you guys think?
