This Week's SATURDAY SHORTS: Explosions of Comedic Awesomeness!

Hello ladies and gentlemen, Muldoon here with this week's fun collection of short films from AICN readers (badasses) like you and me! "Muldoon! Where the hell were you last week? I was dying for some Saturday Shorts and there were none to be found! I lost my shit and had to go binge eat 4 boxes of Twinkies to calm my nerves!" Well, first off - Sorry folks, last weekend brought an unpredicted trip to Ft. Worth and my free time evaporated, (though "4 boxes?" yikes). Some times I can get away with a "Sunday Edition," but a "Monday Edition" just wouldn't feel right. To make it up, I've sifted through quite a few shorts and found what I think are the funniest ones to bring you all today. So if you're feeling blue, well then hey I've got you covered. You'll be cracking a smile in no time. You down to have some fun? Awesome, so let's do this.

Go grab yourself some popcorn, lock your kids in a closet, kill the lights, relax and check out this little weekly film fest we've got ourselves here:

CERTIFIED ORGANIC
TRT: 4:33

So let's kick things off with some organic fun, becuase "organic" always means "better," right? Olivier Bonenfant brings us a rather bizarre, yet thoroughly enjoyable tale of making sure you get what you pay for. "In the redlight district of Brussels, a man is looking for a specific type of prostitute. It quickly becomes an obsession. Shot in 48 hours for the International 2012 Kino Kabaret in Brussels."

JENNIFER LAWRENCE IS COMING

TRT: 4:13

Friends, we all have them - and we all have a few that just leave you scratching your head with how much they seem to blow you off, yet blow you up when they themselves need something. Justin Dec's created a funny little dip into the lives of two former friends of the lovely Jennifer Lawrence... "Follows a week in the lives of two eager roommates as they wait for an old friend to drop by their home for dinner. It just so happens that old friend is Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence and when it comes to blowing people off, she gives them the performance of a lifetime." Check out more from Justin's website.

HELEN IRIS: WATCH DOG

TRT: 5:55

Our next film I found just simply charming. "Helen Iris is a nosy neighbor with her finger on the pulse of the neighborhood, always aware of what is going on.  Only problem is she doesn't always see things for what they are.  Helen's righteous indignation causes more problems than the good she is trying to do." Brad Stephenson, Gayle Pazerski, and Matthew R. Day made this little bit of nosiness and if you dig what you see, then hit up Brad's website for more goodies.

HUBERT'S GHOST

TRT: 3:00

Boom! Our next film includes some ghostly fun! From SATURDAY SHORTS alumni Joe and Lloyd Stas and the fine gang at Holomax, we have this freaky little tale of what happens when the ghost you play chess with loses his/her cool... "It’s a short film set in a haunted house where the residents have to wear costumes to blend in with the Evil spirits.  The film is a competition entry for the annual Short Cuts to Hell competition in the UK. Last year we were finalists and had our short played in front of over 1,000 people at Frightfest. The prize this year which is being put forward by The Horror Channel and Movie Mogul (Panic Button, The Sleeping Room) is a minimum £20,000 budget towards making the concept of the short into a feature film." Check out the film's production blog here or just hit up their website if you like what you see!

LOOSE ENDS

TRT: 14:59

And to send us home, we've got a film from Eden Vaschon and Paul Gillingwater of Anagram Media. "A desperate husband. An intensely annoying wife. And the incompetent hitman he hires to kill her. A comic recipe for disaster, played out in the back alleys and apartments of New York."

Okay folks, that's it for this week! I'll catch you all next week! In the mean time, go out and see some movies this week - or stay home and hit up some past SATURDAY SHORTS, eh? Whatever the case, thanks for checking in this week - I hope you dug some of the films!

If you have a short and think it belongs here or are on the fence about whether to send it in, please do send it in - I'd love to see what you've put together. I've already seen hundreds of fresh new filmmakers' shorts and like any good addict, I need more!

Shoot me an email at "Mike@aintitcool.com"

In the subject line include:

“SHORTS” + “Your film’s name” + “The film’s genre”

Then, in the body of the email, please include a synopsis of the film and any contact information you might think I need or would want published. The more info you send my way, the more info there is to put with your short.

Please don’t feel the need to submit multiple times.

Remember, the filmmakers might still be in the audience, so feel free to share your thoughts in Talkbacks below. (JUST DON'T BE AN ASSHOLE). I picked them, so you know I think highly of all of these, but how about you fine folks? How'd you like 'em?

BY THE WAY: If you've had a short featured here, that means that I personally am a fan of your work, so feel free to shoot me any kind of news on new projects/films/whatever. I can't say I'll be able to help or in what capacity, but I'm interested in your work and am always down to see more! (Keep making cool stuff, everyone!)
