A trailer has hit for RUDDERLESS, the directorial debut of William H. Macy. Given Macy's incredible career, it's hard to believe this is the first time he has stepped behind the camera for a feature film.
But it's true, and it looks like his selected some potentially solid material for his first time out.
RUDDERLESS stars Billy Crudup as a man struggling to come to terms with the death of his son. When he comes across a series of demo tapes he didn't know his son had made, he forms a band and begins performing the music as a means of coping with the loss.
It's certainly an ambitions film, and Macy will need to strike a balance between being moving and overly-emotional. But early reviews have been largely positive, so hopes are definitely high. The film co-stars Anton Yelchin, Felicity Huffman, Laurence Fishburne, Selena Gomez and Jamie Chung. Macy himself also makes an appearance in the film. It opens in theaters and on VOD on October 17th. What do you guys think?
