Brandon Routh, the George Lazenby of Warner’s Superman motion picture franchise, will be filling a smaller role in the DC TV universe.
On 14 episodes of The CW’s “Arrow,” Routh will play inventor-scientist Ray Palmer, the new owner of Queen Consolidated.
In the DC comic books Palmer is an Ivy University professor whose secret identity is The Atom, a superhero who can shrink himself so small that he cannot be detected by the most powerful microscope.
Palmer was introduced in October 1961’s DC Showcase #34, just a few months before Marvel and Stan Lee introduced shrinking superhero Hank “Ant-Man” Pym in January 1962’s Tales To Astonish #27.
