ANT-MAN Gets Two New Writers As Film Heads Into Production!

Ant-Man Title

Jeremy here...

When last we checked in with Marvel's star-crossed ANT-MAN, the estimable Peyton Reed had been brought on to direct, while the equally estimable Adam McKay had been hired to fix the in-house rewrite that prompted director Edgar Wright's exit. Given the rumored replacement options (e.g. Ruben Fleischer, Rawson Thurber and the cement-covered ghost of Al Adamson), this seemed like a best-case scenario for a project that still has a lot of promise, if only due to its impressive cast (Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lily, Michael Pena, Corey Stoll and Patrick Wilson). These are talented fellas who certainly have it in them to salvage a troubled production.

McKay's involvement was always intended to be brief, so it's not a harbinger of anything dire that Marvel has brought on a writing duo to polish and punch up the script while the production proceeds: after all, this is what the studio typically does (e.g. Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely were on set for both CAPTAIN AMERICA movies). With that in mind, Latino Review is reporting that Gabriel Ferrari and Andrew Barrer will be the go-to writers on ANT-MAN's Atlanta set. The duo previously made the Black List with their 2010 screenplay DIE IN A GUNFIGHT (which was almost made as a Zac Efron vehicle), and wrote the script for Sony's unmade SABRINA, THE TEENAGE WITCH movie. In other words, they're young and untested, but they'll be surrounded by a lot of folks who know from good writing.

ANT-MAN is still scheduled to hit theaters July 17, 2015.
