Annette Kellerman's oh-so-brief NURSE BETTY review

Hey folks, Harry here with the thoughts of the lovely bathing lady with the false leg and the wild enthusiasm to make... lovey with the movies... So far we've had a lot of dicks with opinions on NURSE BETTY... they've been all weepy and lovey for the thing... So let's see what ol Annette has to say...

Hello to everyone! This is Annette Kellerman, here to share my thoughts on the upcoming NURSE BETTY. Let me begin by thanking, thanking, THANKING the movie gods for a film aobut a chick that has nothing to do with her falling in love, crying, dying, or having babies. We're not forced to sit through any stereotypical sequences with girls bitching and moaning about the lack of "real men" or the ongoing quest for that coveted ring (they never even mention that cool one in middle earth). Fortunately, I can report that none of the above exist in NURSE BETTY. It is a completely original story unravelled before us through an amazingly unique performance by Renee Zellweger. Now, I know that most of you already know what the movie is about, but for the rest of you who don't, here's my quick summary.

The story revolves around Betty, your run-of-the-mill waitress/homemaker, who plummets into the alternate reality of her favorite soap opera after witnessing a brutal murder. We then follow Betty on a cross-country trek to the ficticious setting of her soap opera, while the murderous culprits of the film (Morgan Freeman and Chris Rock) remain hot on her trail. The most intriguing part of the movie comes when Betty's dream world finally collides with reality- and both take a most witty and unconventional turn. That's all I can tell you , because anymore information could completely ruin this gem of a story for you. I can, however, go on and on about the smart and clever way the film unfolds. Throughout the complex story line (or lines, I guess) the plot is never lost, and outstanding performances by all aforementioned actors as well as a cocky Greg Kinnear and a slimy Aaron Eckhart place my thumbs up even higher.

It's about time for a film with a female lead that has nothing to do with cheerleading or finding Mr. Right. But aside from that, its also great to catch a movie that is both engaging and challenging. Fellas- don't pass up NURSE BETTY because it has the sound of a chick-flick. It's not. And ladies-please, please, please hit the theaters so we can continue to see more excellent roles like Betty.

Until next time,

Annette.
