El Cosmico here, and well, if if possession of a lifeforce weren't a prerequisite for seeing this film, like if I were an undead Brunnen-G or something, and could see this movie whilst dead, then I would indeed probably love it more than life.
Life being essential to viewing, however, it doesn't quite make that most demanding of cuts. Nevertheless, let me give my highest possible rating, and state unequivocally, IF YOU DON'T SEE GODZILLA 2000 IN THE THEATRES, THAT MEANS YOU SUCK.
I don't think a person could be much more clear than that. This film is simply the most fun I've had in a movie theatre this year, and that includes watching God of Cookery and Holy Weapon. It's that hardcore delicious. It is SO amazing as to not be believed. It is a film for all time, a glorious example to all of the great, great heights which film can attain when made with sufficient love and brilliance. I dare say it will be my very favorite film this year. I will certainly enjoy it for many years to come, when it arrives on DVD, and long after that, I shall pass it on to my descendents, and command them to do the same.
The comedy is incredible, the result of a no-holds barred dub to end all dubs. The destruction...well, the destruction deserves its own paragraph, so let me start over.
THE DESTRUCTION, I TELL YOU, IS MORE WANTON AND GLORIOUS, MORE GLEEFUL AND MAD THAN ANY DESTRUCTION HERETOFORE WITNESSED IN ANY FORM SINCE THE BEGINNING OF TIME.
So truly amazing is this masterwork, that it provides fine example why no one, I say NO ONE except the Japanese must ever be allowed to work on a Godzilla movie ever again. We are reminded of just how unique and pure in form and thought the great atomic monster Godzilla (GOJIRA!!!) really is, and of how sinful it is to deviate from the truth of this purity.
