Another Early Peek At CHARLIE'S ANGELS!!

Hey, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some rumblings from the Lab.

I can't believe the reviews we're getting in on CHARLIE'S ANGELS. I'd be worried about shills if it weren't for the fact that I know many of the people who have gone to these screenings, and I know their general taste in films, and they all keep saying the same thing... it's fun. I haven't heard anyone call the film anything near great, but it sounds like they figured out a way -- like with the first BRADY BUNCH MOVIE -- to poke fun at themselves and let the audience in on it and just make the biggest, silliest CHARLIE'S ANGELS film humanly possible. And damn if that trailer doesn't get a huge response every single time I see it in a theater. Who knows... maybe Sony pulled off the impossible. If so, they'll be turning the tide on some of the most troubled production buzz in recent memory. Let's hear what our young friend SUR WILDCAT has to say...

Charlie's Angels

*** Out of ****

Oh where do I begin?

First off this movie is nothing but fun. From start to finish it is a film that is having fun with its self, and is inviting you to tag along for the ride.

After the opening plane sequence, that you can basically see in the trailer, the film kicks into high gear and never lets go, maybe it slows down a little in the middle, but it picks its self right back up.

Lets look at the good things first.

Drew Barrymore/Dylan

The future Mrs. Green has but her heart and sold her soul to get this film made, and it shows. The camera loves her, and she loves it in return. Her relationship with Tom Green's character, is sweet and at the same time weird.

But in all truth it is only there for the laughs, as poor Mr. Green's character thinks that she doesn't like him because of the "Chad". Miss Barrymore is saddled with being the tough angel (although I felt Miss Diaz and Miss Liu had better, and more meaty action scenes) And she handles it well, and who knew that she had such ample cleavage.

Cameron Diaz/Natalie

What to say, what to say. I know!

FOR GOD SAKE WOMAN EAT A MEAL AT LEAST ONCE A FUCKING DAY

Sometimes Miss Diaz looks fucking great, other times she could give Ally McBeal a run for her money. And it is a shame too; cause I felt her character was the most fun to watch. She looks great (yet at the same time I wanted to strap her to a chair and spoon feed her, wait, is that such a bad idea) and can kick some ass with her MATRIX (more on that later) like moves.

Her relationship with Luke Wilson is pointless, but does provide the fact that she is the ditzy angel. Also, what movie can be that bad when the first time we see her at home, she gets out of bed, and dances in front of the mirror, turning around, and then shakes that cute ass of hers. One word, YUM.

Lucy Liu/Alex

I fucking love this character. Why, first off, she seems to be the one, who for the most part is in on the joke, yet at the same time, says, well, lets be serious. And she has some pretty good scenes. Action wise she rules, and her fight with The Thin Man was pretty tight. But please, please, why did she have to be dating Matt LeBlanc (I am one of the first to admit that I liked LOST IN SPACE, its one of those, leave your brain at the door type moves, but after his performance, he should never be allowed in a movie theater, let alone on the screen as long as he lives) Also her dominatrix type scene was great, and a lot of fun.

Bill Murray/Bosley

Bill Murray was Bill Murray, which can be a bad thing or a good thing. In this case it was a good thing.

The Bad

It is official. I hate, I hate, and I hate THE MATRIX.

Let me explain.

In 1997 a little film called SCREAM was released. It was smart, original, funny, scary, and had touched on new ground that had never been touched before. I am one of the few who liked its sequel more, but it had a bad after affect. THE RAGE: CARRIE 2, I STILL KNOW, THE FACULTY (I still like it) URBAN LEGEND, need I go on. They took the idea and ran with it, what was once a good thing, became very tired and boring.

In 1999 a little big film call THE MATRIX was released. It blew people away, made Hollywood drool and ruined fight sequences forever. CHARLIE'S ANGEL'S is full of MATRIX like fight scenes, which, I am sorry, have been done before. X-MEN did it, that new Wesley Snips film THE ART OF WAR looks like it is going to do it, ROMEO MUST DIE, and now CHARLIE'S ANGEL'S. They have all taken an original idea, and ruined it. Now the movie's plot is not anything new, but in all reality what films plot is. But when moves like, oh, Cameron Diaz jumping, flying at least six feet in the air, while at the same time looking like she is walking the stair master, and then kicking a guy. Well, that takes me out of the film and makes me go "Wait a minute, I have seen this someplace before". I don't mind repetitive plots, but to take something that has been done before, and make it look like you're own, well that fucking gets my goat.

Also, the big twist, while good, is basically useless (not a good sign). While I will not review it here, I will say it make you go "Cheap shot"

The REALLY REALLY good stuff

Lets just say, any film that highlights Drew and Cameron's boobs, is fine by me : ) : )

On a final note, it moves pretty fast, the jokes mostly hit the mark, and the action is pretty cool for ripping off cool action, but the age group that it is targeting will not really get the 70's jokes (I did, and I am only between the ages of 16-18, bet you can't guess it)

So I bid farewell, and until next time

SurWildcat

P.S. THE CELL SUCKED. And I am ashamed to have gone and seen it.
