Pork Pie has a major love for LITTLE NICKY

Hey folks... our first word on LITTLE NICKY was quite mixed to negative... but as is the case with comedies often in the testing process... The jokes get closer together, the timing is tightened... reshoots are made and it begins to come together.... Either that.. or different people with different tastes finds somethings funny and other things humorless.... depends on the place and time. Now... here's Pork Pie with his love affair with Adam Sandler...

Let's start from the beginning. I liked The Waterboy. Hilarious. I liked Big Daddy. Perfect date movie. I almost cried with all the dad stuff. My sensitive side. Really. I just saw Little Nicky. Harder rocking, more one liners and a cast of thousands. Adam Sandler rocks.

I'll start from the beginning. I guess we know the plot thanks to Moriarty. Basically, it's Boy Raised by Satan has to save his dad from decomposing by getting his brothers to drink from the magic flask and go back to hell where they belong. Or something like that. I'm still trying to figure everything out. It was funny. Sandler's voice threw me at the start, but it works. So does the stupid talking dog. One one-liner after another. And the cast. It's like one of those sixties movies with everyone and his brother in it. People said the transvestite was Ron Howard's brother. Does he have a brother? Whoever it is is a riot. And Rodney Dangerfield as Lucifer with Harvey Keitel as Satan. Genius. (I never expected Keitel in a comedy...) And Jon Lovitz as the most hilarious peeping Tom in film history. (A slight nod to Brother Blutto in Animal House, where this might have come from). The two metal dudes, John and Peter, were the best part of the whole thing. Much better than Bill and Ted. The music rocks. I got the Wedding Singer soundtrack, and I'll get this one too.

I'm still thinking about the cast. A bunch of SNL people, Nealon, Carvey, Spade, plus Quentin Tarantino (Yeah, he should have stuck to directing, but he's a riot in this. Really. I mean it. A pisser.) and Patricia Arquette and whats her name Witherspoon from Election, Blah blah blah. The thing is they're all funny. Somebody actually let them be funny. Since Big Daddy people talk about "Adam Sandler Projects" and how he's got all this power now. If this is what he does, great. Yeah, he gets sent back to hell a few too many times. It's still funny. He got a killer cast together and ran through a wild ass story. Pure escapism, like movies are supposed to be. Some of the stuff looks like rips from other movies, like the flying stuff from the fire escape (see the original Superman)... and I wish some of the characters stayed mean, but in the end it all works. Seeing some of the stuff on the big screen (I sit in the 3rd or 4th row for every movie) as well as hearing the soundtrack HUGE was totally worth it.
