This Week's SATURDAY SHORTS: An explosion of Rock & Roll, Space Travel, and Bizarre Wood Creatures!

Hello ladies and gentlemen, Muldoon here with this week's lovely round up of fun flicks I think you might want to check out. This week we've got a rock star animation, some science fiction fun, suspense, and a weird creature feature for you to dine your eyes on. I just love how this week's selection is a jam packed concoction of different genres. It's like a magical mixed bag of jelly beans - great individually, but totally are just as satisfying when mixed together. So while you might typically only check out the horror, the comedy, etc... I implore you today to hit up each one of the films and toss out your thoughts in the Talkbacks below. More and more it feels like SATURDAY SHORTS is some kind of a film club, a weekly gathering of folks to toss out their opinions on films they haven't seen before. I kind of like that - so let's keep this shorts train moving and see what we think of today's picks!

Go grab yourself some popcorn, lock your kids in a closet, kill the lights, relax and check out this little weekly film fest we've got ourselves here:

GREAT MOMENTS IN ROCK & ROLL HISTORY (THAT NEVER HAPPENED)

TRT: 4:10

Ever wonder what it'd be like to hear Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen chatting it up at the end of the night - right before the bar closed? How about watching Little Richard and James Brown purchasing a couch together? No? Well, that's okay - because your pal José Luis of Ojo Flojo totally did, and he made a pretty amusing short out of it!

VULTURES IN THE VOID

TRT: 15:04

Boom! (Or is Vroom! the better one for this?) Next up is a space odyssey adventure from Arvin Bautista of Greasy Pig Studios.

SURVEILLANCE

TRT: 10:37

And here we've got a film from Benji Gillespie for all the snoops out there. "Four undercover cops turn what should be a routing surveillance op into a disaster."

A WOODCUTTER'S TALE

TRT: 6:50

Creature Feature Time! Here's a fun one from Adrian Hedgecock that'll have you giggling like a schoolgirl. "In a magical forest a stupid Woodcutter unleashes the forces of hell - an equally stupid Goblin Devil determined to claim the poor man's soul." If you like what you see, then be sure to check out Adrian's website, Vimeo page, or just follow the guy on Twitter (@hedgecoco)!

THE HOURGLASS FIGURE

TRT: 12:32

And finishing up this week's selection is a film from Patrick Rea. Fantasy, comedy, horror - it's got it all (and a bag of chips)! "An overworked housewife finds an hourglass in her attic that gives her an extra hour in her day, but with consequences."

That's it for this week, guys and gals! I'll catch you all in a week! Have a good one. Now go out and make cool stuff!

If you have a short and think it belongs here or are on the fence about whether to send it in, please do send it in - I'd love to see what you've put together. I've already seen hundreds of fresh new filmmakers' shorts and like any good addict, I need more!

Shoot me an email at "Mike@aintitcool.com"

In the subject line include:

“SHORTS” + “Your film’s name” + “The film’s genre”

Then, in the body of the email, please include a synopsis of the film and any contact information you might think I need or would want published. The more info you send my way, the more info there is to put with your short.

Please don’t feel the need to submit multiple times.

Remember, the filmmakers might still be in the audience, so feel free to share your thoughts in Talkbacks below. (JUST DON'T BE AN ASSHOLE). I picked them, so you know I think highly of all of these, but how about you fine folks? How'd you like 'em?

BY THE WAY: If you've had a short featured here, that means that I personally am a fan of your work, so feel free to shoot me any kind of news on new projects/films/whatever. I can't say I'll be able to help or in what capacity, but I'm interested in your work and am always down to see more! (Keep making cool stuff, everyone!)
