The lowdown on Disney's BROTHER BEAR

Hey folks, Harry here... and ya know... According to the mystery man below... and from his descriptions... This sounds like it could be the makings of a really solid animated film... except that, with Phil Collins handling the music, that'll mean there are songs... and unfortunately... for me, the material doesn't (at surface levels) seem like it really needs them. I also really hope that the boy doesn't look like Mowgli, as that character was closer to age 9 to 11, and a 15 year old boy is much stockier in build... Of course everything on BROTHER BEAR at this point would be early pre-designs and roughs. But I like this basic story... definately not a LION KING retread it sounds.

Harry I've seen prod. stuff from this disney project (Brother Bear) and I'll try to clue you in. I'm not going to give you a long drawn out description in detail, cause i haven't the time.

Its the story of a young rebellious indian boy(15), whose father the cheif the tribe is killed by a bear. His older brother (18) then becomes chief. In one scene the young boy argues that his brother's first course of action should be to hunt down and kill the bear. The brother disagrees, and the young boy goes off to take the matter into his own hands. somewhere along the way, spirits are involved, that turn the boy into his enemy - a bear. Now he must learn how to relate to them, now that he is one of them. I'm sure at some point (though I didn't see this in print) that he learns his lesson and is returned to his natural form.

i saw a sketch of the boy-- it's basically mogli (unsure of spelling) from jungle book w/ more animal skins on.

hope this helps
