NEWPORT SOUTH... a report from the high school anarchy that John Hughes wrote and this kid witnessed!!!

Hey folks, Harry here... The following comes from a young white suburbanite that was an extra in a John Hughes written High School thing... And ya know what? From the sound of it, he was a bit confused. You see, he seems to think that John Hughes directed the film he's in, but according to my info... this was to be directed by Kyle Cooper, in his feature film directing debut. Up until this film, his directing has been limited to opening titles... like the ones for SEVEN, ISLAND OF DR MOREAU, MIMIC, etc... Now it is sometimes the case to have the screenwriter... especially if he's producing... on set. So other than that factual hiccup... I'm sure the following happened exactly as described...

Hiya Harry. Not quite sure what the rules are here, how you select what movies to talk about, but I was an extra in a movie back in february, and I haven't heard anyone speak of it at your site. I even did a search to see if I had missed something, but that turned up nothing either. Yet, I strode forward undaunted and decided to e-mail you about it, and not just because I feel like one of yer cool movie spies (which I do); mostly because I felt strangely and strongly compelled to report to the grand master of behind the scenes hollywood knowhow. (I would've made a great supervillain's lackey).

Anywho, here it is: (SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!)

The movie is being produced through either Touchstone or by Disney itself, and the director is John Hughes. The film is about a group of about 3 or 4 normal teenage students who rebel against their school system, which, for one reason or another, they have deemed unfair. Eventually they get the entire school to follow them; this is seen to great extent in the, er, scene which I was in. Someone pulls a fire alarm, causing everyone to be sent outside.

Eventually, the firemen discover that it is a false alarm, and the students are called back inside by a principal with a megaphone. But instead of returning to their classes like good little suburbanites, the students simply turn aound, and walk away. This scene was shot in Libertyville, Illinois, a nice white chicago suburb (where most john hughes films take place). On a side note, the group of students starring in the film are unknown now (I talked to them face to face, thinking they were extras as well) but are supposedly gaining their big break by starring in this movie. The movie is supposed to be released next feb. That is all. Thank you. I would have placed more witty comments throughout my report but, my sister is roaring for me again, and my jaw still aches from the last time I ignored her orders, so I will leave you now. Harry, feel free to edit this to your heart's content.

Signed...the white suburbanite.
