Junior Mintz has a possible explanation of Disney's BROTHER BEAR

Hey folks, Harry here with that delicious morsel of a gal, Junior Mintz. Well the green and gold adorned minx has shined her double double d flashlight upon the latest Disney Animated Feature rumor and has come up with an explanation or a possible backstory on the project. Personally... it sounds a bit too much like a retread of THE LION KING... Hopefully the project has moved well past this past project that Junior is familiar with. AND... btw... Junior... I love your idea of BROTHER BEAR being a badass Harlem takes-no-shit voiced by Sam Jackson long claw of the law mofo. Though, methinks it's a bit cool for Disney.

Yo, Harry!

Junior Mintz here to add some speculation about Disney's BROTHER BEAR project recently announced on your site. I don't know if it will turn out to be the same picture, but a couple years ago, sources at Disney reported Michael Eisner was hell-bent on getting a cartoon feature in the works which he was only referring to by the rough working title of THE BEAR KING. Based on whispers from the Disney story-folks, it was just what the title suggests, THE LION KING with bears. The story guys indicated it was set in a National Park and concerned a bear cub who was driven away from his domain by a bigger, meaner bear. Later on the grown bear cub returned, challenged his bigger rival and deposed him, taking over his natural realm once again. Hmmm, mix two parts LION KING with one part BONGO and that's what you get. Like I said, that was the animated bear movie Disney was actively developing a few years back, and some of that may be surfacing in BROTHER BEAR, especially if it turns out the cub is adopted by people (or other friendly creatures) as the title seems to indicate. Of course, the title also calls to mind the beloved SONG OF THE SOUTH character Br'er Bear, but it's doubtful the ultra-PC ninnies at the House of Mouse would be letting that bruin out of his cave any time soon.

Hmm, that would be cool though. Move Br'er Bear from rural Georgia to the mean streets of Harlem, give him a badge and a gun and turn him loose on the underworld as the ass-kickin' cop BROTHER BEAR. I can hear Samuel L. Jackson delivering BB's catch phrase already: "Ih'm gonna blow your head clean off!"

Ohhhkay, shutting up now.

Junior out
