Hey folks, Harry here with a whole series of links to stories that ol Smilin Jack Ruby has up about his adventures at... FANGORIA's big tadoo this past weekend. Now the groovy as hell thing about a con like this one is that the gore folks are out en masse.... and everyone with anything vaguely horror related is out sporting their wares... so take a read, click on the insults and let ol SmilinJack whisper in your ear as he presses that snubnose in the corner of your back...
Hey Harry,
Got a lot of interesting scoops from Fangoria’s Weekend of Horrors that are now up on my silly site: SmilinJackRubyLand. I don't know if AICN wants to go with any of this stuff, but hey, I figured I would send it to you anyway if you guys are ever writing something else up and wanted a couple of quotes from elsewhere.
First off, Moustapha Akkad talks “Halloween VIII” including bits about the story, confirms the rumor that “that wasn’t the real Myers in H20,” names the screenwriter (Larry Brand), confirms that Jamie Lee Curtis has a small role, and announces that they are heading out to shoot in the Spring.
Here’s the whole story:
Then Rick Baker talked about “Planet of the Apes” and said that he has to build around 500 apes by October as they are on a rushed schedule. He has a day and night crew of 75 people working on it and there will be absolutely no animatronic apes, even in the crowd sequences. He said a bunch of other stuff, too.
Here’s the whole story on that:
William Friedkin let loose a number of points about the re-release of “The Exorcist” and said that he not only added a completely new soundtrack and new sound effects, he also cut a few parts.
Here’s Friedkin in all his glory:
Billy Brown, one of the “X-Files” writers and the dude behind the “Night Visions” series premiering on Fox on October 6th talked all about the series and how he doesn’t want it to be “The Twilight Zone” despite the easy comparisons.
Yep, here’s the link to that story.
It’s starting to thin when I tell you that there’s a story up with a plot description of Subspecies 5 and info on the forthcoming box set, but Denice Duff and Kevin Spirtas took the stage, too. Here’s what they said.
And guess what? I’m still posting this crap up. Hopefully by tomorrow I’ll have stuff up about Rob Zombie and “House of 1,000 Corpses,” stuff about “Hellraiser V,” stuff about Anchor Bay’s forthcoming releases (yes, they have “Suspiria” and “Manhunter”), “Jason X” stuff, and even some cool info on “Children of the Living Dead” (I no longer think this movies gonna suck – they showed us clips of Tom Savini as a badass, multi-gun-wielding zombie killer). And then a bunch more Corman and Full Moon stuff later this week.
Whatev. Read, borrow, steal, but enjoy regardless.
Smilin’ Jack Ruby
