Hey folks, Harry here with an intro for a non-LatinAICN piece from the paws of Lobo. This time out this lunar loving lycanthrope has come to the digital table with a piece he's written based upon some basic research done upon Al Pacino's upcoming film, which he's directing, entitled... CHINESE COFFEE... Read on and learn what little Mikey is up to...
Hey guys this is LOBO writing about some stuff I've read that has to do with AL PACINO, one my favorite actors. There is a film that is called "CHINESE COFFEE" where AL is the producer, director and also plays one of the characters. This film was written by Ira Lewis which was first made for a play on theater where AL PACINO played Harry in 1989, so AL PACINO has play this character before and it seems that he really liked the plot and he decided to take it to the Big Screen just like he did with the play of William Shakespeare "Richard III" and then made "Looking for Richard".
This is one more of those plays that get to be frozen on film and somehow it sounds to me like a "Donnie Brasco" kind of thing where mainly there are two characters in the entire film, that get to learn from each other and talk about their experiences, but I might be wrong since I really don't know much about the film itself. AL PACINO already finished the filming but still he hasn't gave out a release date on it. He is working next to Jerry Orbach and Neal Jones who has worked before with AL in movies like "Looking for Richard" and "The Devil's advocate".
About the plot I don't know much about it ,but so far I know is about a novelist that hasn't made it to success so he writes a novel based on the lives of him and his friends, and that is where I think the plot takes place, "Harry" and "Jake" talking about their life, their experiences with women and their failures. Then "Harry" goes to "Jake's" apartment to collect some $ that "Jake" hasn't paid him in a while and also wants his opinion on a novel he wrote, but then he finds out that "Jake" is even in a worse position than him so he doesn't get his $, then his friend (a unsuccessful photographer) reads his novel and realizes that is the ticket to success for "Harry" and he gets jealous by that fact, so he tries to convince "Harry" of the opposite, that the novel is good but not in a commercial way and that he should try to make something better or not even try to take his work to the publishers or they will just laugh of it and reject it. But "Harry" without actually listening to his friend thoughts he decides that he should give it a try and that the novel might take him to be a successful novelist. AL PACINO plays "Harry" as he has in the plays for the theater, Jerry Orbach plays his best friend "Jake" and looks like Neal Jones plays a guy called "Eteocles" from which I don't know anything.
I think that for what I've read and heard about this film, it might be one more of the great films by AL PACINO but I just would like to know more about it and know the date of its release.
Later.
