Christophe Gans' The Pact Of Wolves... check this out!

Hey there folks... Harry here... I've been busily catching up. Last night I spent about 12 hours going through videos that had been sent to me... watching this stuff and seeing if there were any jewels. Also, I've been catching up with the films I've missed and preparing for the upcoming onslaught of cool events here in Austin... (See forthcoming posting that'll be up in about an hour) For right now though... I've got a link to a film from Christophe Gans, a very provocative director (NECRONOMICAN and CRYING FREEMAN) and this is a horrific film about a documented... scary as fuck thing that happened. IS it legend or real sort of thing. I just saw the trailer (CLICK HERE TO SEE IT FOR YOURSELF) and I am fired up. It looks sweet as hell. I'd love to see this one... too bad there is no domestic distributor! Dammit!

Dear Mr Knowles,

You probably are aware of this already, but I would like to let you know that Christophe Gans, the director of Crying Freeman and the prospective director of Nemo (at present in limbo because of casting problems) and of a live Patlabor film, is finalizing his last project, Le Pacte des Loups (The Pact of Wolves, literally translated). The film takes place in 17th-century France and deals with a real case, the savage murders of several peasants and subsequent investigation.

Among French actors, the film stars Monica Ballucci (Dellamore, Dellamorte &, more recently, a film with Gene Hackman and Morgan Freeman whose title escapes me) and Mark Dacascos (Crying Freeman, The Crow TV Series) as an Indian helping in the investigation. The music is by the person who composed Ghost in the Shell's soundtrack, and the stunts are performed by talented Hong Kong stuntmen. The editor is David Wu, of Hard Target fame.

The first images are visually stunning (think Sleepy Hollow, Mario Bava and Hammer Films), and we might assume that the mega-budget (for a French production!) will for once be used wisely.

The website can be found at LePacteDesLoups.Com It's a bit slow, and entirely in French, but I hope you will find it rewarding. I also hope that the mention of this film on your site will help it get an American distribution (although apparently, in this respect all goes well for the moment).

Yours sincerely,

An Anonymous Frenchman
