Recently a screening of the first 30 minutes of THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RINGS was rumored to bring tears of joy to the eyes of those that saw it. Unprepared for it's beauty, scope and power. In addition to all the actors, writers and The Maniac (aka Peter Jackson)... beyond the cinematographer and the sound folks and the grips and best boys and P.As... The LOOK of this film, the essence of middle earth is being brought to life from Weta... We have only seen the smallest of glimpses of their magic at play. In whole, I've heard it is overwhelming. Having forged my own steel blade and pounded it into existence as a 12 year old boy... I can smell that tangy toxic smell of steel burnt orange... the sparks pounding into one's leather apron... for a strong visual... watch the ANVIL OF CROM sequence from CONAN THE BARBARIAN and smile....
