Hey folks, Harry here with a jiggle and a tweak or two wrenched from the rather tight lips of those working upon STAR WARS EPISODE 2. All I know... is mesa likes the sounds of Sam Jackson's character... mesa do....
Harry,
Just got back from a special Q&A session with Nick Gillard (Stunt co-ordinator on Episodes 1 & 2). It was open to the public and held at the HOYTS Cinema complex just metres from the Fox backlot here in Sydney.
Making a surprise appearance, Rick McCallum turned up and spoke for about 30 minutes before Mr Gillard took the stage. Nobody gave anything away. Although when asked "Does Yoda have any fight sequences?", Nick Gillard replied "I hope not!". He also hinted that for example, Mace Windu is gonna be a heaps lethal, cooler, and less flamboyant Jedi. He says that he has tried to make it so, there is a flaw in Qui-Gon's training of Obi-Wan, which will be passed onto Anakin, thus causing the inevitable turn to the dark side. Apparently, the fight sequences in episode 2 are gonna be much better than those we have seen.
"Wait till you see what we've done in this one" -Nick Gillard
Also, when asked "Has George appraoched you with any plans for Indy 4?" Nick smuggly smiled and replied "Um....he may have!". This got a great reaction from the crowd.
Incidentally, we got to meet Rick McCallum as he was leaving. He quickly signed some autographs, and then left. Couldn't find out anything.
Tonight was the first in a series of three discussions to be held. The next is on Wednesday night (RE: Sound Effects) and Thursday (Visual effects - SOLD OUT!). Staff at the cinema told us that it is heavily rumoured that Mr. Lucas himself may appear at either one of these next two.
Hope some of this info is of interest to someone!
Regards
Alex and Maggot
