Hey central: Ulysses reporting

You know. There are times when everything seems to be perfect, when every chip falls in the right place. This will mean nothing to some of you, but for me it´s beyond utter coolness: Rick Wakeman will be playing in Argentina. This is awesome news for me, as I have been a longtime fan of YES, which he joined in 1971 for the record Fragile. This guy is a brilliant keyboard player. But his music is not just keys, he combines every instrument to perfection in order to create a sound so special, it will become unforgettable once you hear it. I don?t know exactly when he left YES, but after he did so he composed the wonderful Journey to the Center of the Earth and many other works of art. But my favourite is by far the 1973 Six Wives of Henry The 8th, which he created when he was still with the band. For everyone who is out there looking for something groovy and innovative with an extra kick, search no more. This record is beyond great. Combining Rock with Jazz, classical and every other genre to be known by man and then some, Wakeman delivers six beautiful, haunting, perplexing, evocative and extremely complex pieces of music that will stay with you forever. But that´s not all. It seems that Jimmy Page and The Black Crowes will be in my homeland in some months from now. See, I am an unreserved fan of Led Zeppelin and since discovering them I have been whining about the pact I would do with the devil in order to be able to be in one of those monster Zeppelin concerts with all the rage, genius and originality of one of the best rock bands of all time. I have also been considering a plan to steal Moriarty´s Time Machine, but I discarded this possibility due to those darn jellybeans. For being a mythological Greek hero I am quite a softie. But now all those far-fetched plans can rest for a while, as I will be in the presence of the master.

And now, some film news:

- In February, the cameras will start rolling on " The Pendulum Effect " , a Chilean production that tells the true story of four guerrilleros who escaped from a state prison in a chopper. The details of the escape are quite amazing. It seems that a stolen helicopter stood over the prison and threw a basket in the center of the yard, to which the convicts clung as they rose from the facility. This case was a scandal in Chile and caused the resignation of several police authorities. Patricio Contreras will play Mauricio Hernandez, AKA Comandante Ramiro, who was sentenced to life for his involvement in the murder of a senator and in the kidnapping of the son of the owner of the most powerful newspaper of the country. The film will be directed by Bruno Madariaga and its budget is 1.5 million dollars.
