Went to a cool ass presentation by PDI at the World Animation Celebration last night given by Carl Rosendahl (Pres. of PDI) and Tim Johnson, a co-director of Antz. They wouldn't let slip much, though they did show the trailer. There is a flood envolved. Johnson told a story about Christopher Walken as Cutter: They gave him this one monologue he's got, and Walken crossed out all the punctuation, all the direction, all the words on the page except for the words he was supposed to say and he'd just read it...a line that was describing Princess Bala (Sharone Stone) was supposed to be "She's easy on the eyes" but Walken changed it through his reading sans punctuation to "She's easy (pause for 2 seconds)on the eyes"...Brilliant! They said since they found out Prequel I was going to be released Memorial Day weekend in 1999, they're going to try to put it out earlier than that so they won't get crushed.
Dreamworks was supposed to have representatives at this presentation, but the announcer said the people who were supposed to come were all off in London working on the sound/score. They tease...me wanna see POE! The PDI guys would only say that there is some fantastic intigration with 3D and 2D elements in POE, and some CGI crowds during the "exodus".
