What the &#$% is ZOMBIES & SHARKS?

Greetings, all. It’s Ambush Bug with some more horror news—bite size, just how you zombies like it!

This clip warns “Do not cross the HOLY GHOST PEOPLE!”

HOLY GHOST PEOPLE, directed by Mitchell Altieri (Co-writer and Director of THE HAMILTONS and THE THOMPSONS) and stars Emma Greenwell (SHAMELESS), Brendan McCarthy (TRUE BLOOD, JUSTIFED), Joe Egender (HUNGER, THE FRANKENSTEIN THEORY), Cameron Richardson (HARPER ISLAND, ALVIN & THE CHIPMUNKS). It’s described as a a Southern Gothic thriller about a teenager searching for her lost sister in the Appalachian Mountains, where she encounters a snake-handling religious cult and eventually learns the truth about her sister's fate.

HOLY GHOST PEOPLE is available on Video on Demand February 18th and has a theatrical release on February 21st. This one feels like something cool as religion scares me like little else. I get shades of ROSEMARY’S BABY and Ti West’s THE SACREMENT from the trailer and the exclusive clip below!

And here’s an exclusive clip from the film!

Get ready to step IN FEAR!

Coming to theaters on March 7st and then soon after to BluRay/DVD/Video On Demand on March 11th is the horror film IN FEAR, which stars Iain De Caestecker (AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D), Alice Englert (BEAUTIFUL CREATURES) and Allen Leech (DOWNTON ABBEY). Directed and written by Jeremy Lovering, IN FEAR is described as;

a tense psychological horror about a young couple's fight to make it through the night. Home invasion but in a car. In real-time. Tom (De Caestecker) and Lucy (Englert) are trapped in a maze of country roads with only their vehicle for protection, terrorized by an unseen tormentor hell-bent on exploiting their worst fears. Driving, lost and tormented in the night, primal fears of the dark and the unknown give way to fear that you have let the evil in, or that it is already there.

Two more clips from SORORITY PARTY MASSACRE!

We’ve talked a bit about SORORITY PARTY MASSACRE here before and before the film is released and reviewed on AICN HORROR next week, I’ve got a pair of clips from the film for you to ooo and ahh over.

Directed by Chris W. Freeman & Justin Jones, SORORITY PARTY MASSACRE is described as;

An isolated town full of sexy college girls has a dangerous secret: one girl has gone missing each year for the last 20 years. A big-city cop, in danger of losing his badge, agrees to aid the town’s sheriff in investigating these unsolved disappearances. Quickly they realize that they are dealing with a psychotic killer whose brilliance has been twisted into a taste for terror, torture and sorority sister torment. But when this party gets started, who will graduate – and who will be held back?

I’ve got a pair of clips to sare, the first clip is called “Horse Stable” and it takes place in…a horse stable.

The next is called “Anger Management Issues” and stars Kevin Sorbo and Ron Jeremy. Nuff said…

And here’s the trailer to the film.

The Danish have zombies too as proven by this ESCAPING THE DEAD trailer!

Directed by Martin Sonntag and Bastian Brinch Pedersen, ESCAPING THE DEAD is;

inspired by a series of articles about the deathdrug "Krokodil" that was published about the same period of time when Ronald Poppo had his face eaten by a naked man hooked on bathsalt in Miami. It is the perfect zombie plot: a deathdrug that turns people into zombies. The film has its starting point in a typical day for the lead character, David. David is the local marihuana pusher, but he is the kind of dealer that smokes more than he sells. In the meantime the country has been hit by a new deathdrug and when David and his partner in crime Ahmir is offered some exceptionally cheap cocaine they see it as an opportunity to earn big money at the big techno concert the following Friday, but the cocaine turns out to have a terrible side effect that creates a giant zombie outbreak that spreads across the entire Copenhagen. In the film we follow David and his bloody fight out of the city.

ESCAPING THE DEAD is just completing post production and should be out later this year. I’m really looking forward to see what ESCAPING THE DEAD has to offer. Here’s the new trailer!

Make way for THE SUGAR SKULL GIRLS!

THE WALKING DEAD’s Addy Miller, THE HILL HAVE EYES’ Michael Berryman and George Romero’s MARTIN’s John Amplas star in THE SUGAR SKULL GIRLS a films about;

a man who hires a witch to bring his dead daughter back to life. When the spell goes terribly wrong then enters three neo-gothic sisters in his daughter's place. Playing the oldest of the Sugar Skull Sisters is Addy Miller as Luna, a forever-fourteen year old vampire with a Victorian sass. Joining her as her siblings are Cece Hagen as Blue the Ghost and Isabella Sobejano as the catty shape-shifter named Venus. Also joining the line-up is Carmela Hayslett as the villainous Pale Witch who wants nothing more than to bring the girls back to her Shadow World but constantly gets side tracked by her own vanity.

THE SUGAR SKULL GIRLS starts filming this summer.

M IS FOR MARRIAGE turns into LOVE SICK!

And finally…Like many directors, Todd Freeman who wowed me with CELL COUNT (reviewed here), entered a short into the M category for the sequel for THE ABC’S OF DEATH. And while the short didn’t make the cut, it will be featured in the upcoming ABC’S OF DEATH 1.5 Anthology which features 25 of the best M entries and will be released from Drafthouse Films later this year. But Freeman took the concept and developed it into a full length feature set in the same universe as M IS FOR MARRIAGE called LOVE SICK.

Freeman describes LOVE SICK as the story of Rebecca and Marcus who have been together for 10 years and after much deliberation have decided to part ways. After separating and being with others, they quickly realize how hard it is to disconnect from one another. The pain, lies, and betrayal all begin to manifest physically within the both of them as well as infect the others who have become involved with intimately. They love each other so much that it hurts... some more than others. AMERICAN MARY’s Tristan Risk has signed on as the lead role.

For a snippet of what LOVE SICK is going to be like, check out Todd Freeman’s M IS FOR MARRIAGE short. It’s a good one!
