FAST AND FURIOUS 7 to be scrapped entirely?

Hey Yo, Draven here.

We recently just found out that production on FAST AND FURIOUS 7 had been delayed indefinitely, while Universal and the filmmakers decided on the direction of the film after the death of Paul Walker. There has been speculation all over the place on what they are ultimately going to do with Walker’s character, Brian O’Conner and everything is being considered right now.

According to The Wrap, the producers of FAST AND FURIOUS 7 are even considering scrapping the production completely and starting over. While that seems like it would be catastrophic, the article points out that Universal has insurance that would cover most of the production costs if they were to start over.

This isn’t confirmed and apparently Universal still wants to hit that July 11, 2014 release date but it is one of the many scenarios being considered right now. It would be unprecedented for a film of this magnitude and size to just scrap what they have done over half-way into filming but I would rather have them do that than force some awkward storyline in.

I honestly think the best course of action would be to just let FAST AND FURIOUS 6 be the end of the O’Conner character and storyline. It had a satisfying ending and the last thing we want is to have something filmed that feels awkward and forced. This is a tought spot and I certainly would not want to be a decision maker when it comes to what to do with the film.
