UPDATED!! Official Site News, and About That EPISODE II Trailer...

Hey, everyone. "Moriarty" here. I'd say the one thing I got the most e-mail about this weekend is a trailer that originated here. It was shown in some booth at the San Diego ComiCon, and I've gotten links to dozens of mirror sites. Some of these spots label the trailer as a fan effort. Others seem to suggest it's official, the product of Lucasfilm.

Make no mistake. It's a fan trailer. It's a damn good one, too. It's a lot of fun, and there was a moment while watching it when I thought, "Wow, did they really cut a teaser already?" But when that clip of Natalie Portman from ANYWHERE BUT HERE showed up and I saw the guy walk by in the shirt from The Gap, it was a bit of a giveaway. I love the stuff with the lightsabers added to BRAVEHEART footage. It's all very clever, and well worth downloading.

Look at how Lucasfilm is behaving this time around, folks. When there's a real trailer, you'll be able to get it directly from the official site... guaranteed. I really admire the way Star Wars.com is handling information right now. The new article they just put up about Jimmy Smits and Anthony Daniels already being finished with their work on the film is great, informative, and contains some nice quotes. Samuel L. Jackson has finished everything but his action scenes, evidently. Bet he can't wait 'till he goes back in August. Anyway... hope the fun continues as things heat up in the weeks ahead.

Anyway... thanks to everyone who sent in e-mail on this topic, and to the guys over at The Force.net, who first provided the trailer for people to enjoy.
