Deadline is reporting that Lake Bell will be co-starring with Simon Pegg in a new rom-com called MAN UP. And given the talent on board, I'm already excited for it. In addition to Bell and Pegg lending their comedic chops to the production, the film is being directed by Ben Palmer, who helmed episodes of the hilarious British comedy series The Inbetweeners, as well as The Inbetweeners movie (and if you haven't seen The Inbetweeners, I urge you to check it out as quickly as possible. Seriously - you may piss yourself laughing).
The film will revolve around Nancy (Bell), who is mistaken for a stranger's (presumably Pegg) blind date as she is en route to her parents' anniversery party. I'm sure plenty of romance and charms and hilarity will ensue from that point on, beucase with Pegg and Bell starring in the film, how could it not?
Pegg will co-produce with Nira Park, who has served as producer on some of Pegg's previous projects, including SPACED and SHAWN OF THE DEAD, as well as genre fave ATTACK THE BLOCK. The script was written by Tess Morris and landed on the 2011 Brit List (the brit-centric counter-part to the Hollywood Black List). Production is set to begin in January.
