Well, summer's here and the vacation bug has bitten our international lineup of columnists. Edgard has left Paris to visit the USA, Darth Bond also abandoned Paris for the Black Forest (Remember to leave that trail of bread crumbs guy), Coffin Joe has left the Brazilian winter for the hot summer films and theme parks of sunny Florida, and Father Geek here, Harry, and Quint leave tomorrow for The San Diego ComiCon and 6 days in geek heaven. You might think all of this would slow down the site, but with backup like LOBO writing on this column, workhorses like Ozymandias holding down the Euro-fort, and mainstays like Robogeek & El Cosmico staffing Geek Headquarters here in Austin we expect zero problems for you readers around the world...

**** ANTONIO BANDERAS is taking some time off in Spain and while he was there he mention that he had a CHAT Chat with PEDRO ALMODOVAR and that the possibility for them working together seems to be closer. He said he is very excited to work with ALMODOVAR again and that he is thinking about making more films in Europe and rest a little bit from Hollywood.

**** SYLVESTER STALLONE is filming a movie about car racing and to make it more realistic he asked the Brazilian HELIO CASTRO NEVES for the trophy he got in the Grand Prix in Detroit.

BEYOND BORDERS / MAS ALLA DE LAS FRONTERAS
El director de photography (from Mexico) RODRIGO PRIETO is getting ready to travel. He will be visiting Kenya, Kosovo and some others places near by, to take a look and study some of those areas, because he will be working with OLIVER STONE in his next movie " BEYOND BORDERS". This was decided by OLIVER after he saw some of the work that RODRIGO PRIETO has done in some movies like AMORES PERROS which got an award in the Cannes festival. RODRIGO was very excited after hearing the news and why not, I mean, this is a big step. For right now there isn't much to say on what the movie is about, but so far it looks like KEVIN COSTNER and MEG RYAN are going to be part of it.

LOBO, Here is a little something for you.
Esta pelicula is about seven families that live in Mexico City and sometimes/sometimes not, manage to get out of every situation that they go through the economical crisis in Mexico, these families are what is consider middle class. The producer and director of this movie RAFAEL MONTERO who also did "Cilantro y Perejil" mentioned that this is not a Hollywood type of movie, he said that this is like a picture of reality for some families. There is going to be a lot of national known actors in this film like: Veronica Merchant, Carmen Montejo, Martha Navarro, Lorena Rojas, Rafael Navarro and Toni Marcin. He also mentioned that CORAZONES ROTOS will be ready for the big screen around may next year.

Here is a bit of news from Colombia. The Colombiana model/TV host , SOFIA VERGARA, will have her debut as an actress in the Walt Disney movie "BIG TROUBLE" . Barry Sonnenfeld (Get Shorty,Men in Black) is the director of this comedy based on the novel of Dave Barry and written by Robert Ramsey. Also co-starring with la guapa SOFIA is TIM ALLEN, RENE RUSSO, OMAR EPPS and ZOOEY DESCHANEL. "Big Trouble" will start filming in the middle of August in Miami,FL. so for those who live there, see if you can get some Pics on this one and share !!!.

As you all know by now SYLVESTER STALLONE is in a movie about car racing and along with this, the dream of another Latino has come true, this time is the actor CRISTIAN DE LA FUENTE ("Family Law"- TV) from CHILE. This is his debut on the big screen and he will be playing a Brazilian pilot called Memo Moreno who is a part of the team and a friend of Joe Tanto (SYL).
CICATRIZ
CICATRIZ is the name of the movie that will take over the big screen on August 17th. CICATRIZ is a movie/documentary that talks about what happened during the attempted killing of the dictator AUGUSTO PINOCHET and was co-produced with RUSSIA and directed by SEBASTIAN ALARCON. This movie was shown in VIÑA DEL MAR ' 94 but it didn't had the response that the makers were expecting. This time its a little bit different they say, because there is going to be more things exposed.

The actor/director EDWARD JAMES OLMOS, during his visit in Mexico , mentioned the movie "SIRENA THE LITTLE MAIRMAID" where he works next to the actresses MARIA CONCHITA ALONSO and MARISOL NICHOLS(Scream 2). The movie is directed by TONY PLANA (Cuba) and is about a rich professional swimmer (Marisol) who falls in love with a guy from East L.A. MARIA CONCHITA ALONSO plays a woman who wants to marry OLMOS and she is the bad one in the movie, trying to avoid the relationship. The rest of the cast is ; ALEXANDRA MENESES(Viva Rock Vegas), RUBEN BLADES(Cradle will Rock) and MICHAEL REARDON and the filming of the movie is about to end somewhere in California.

Hey Father Geek , how is it going ?
Just wanted to let you know that I´ll be going tomorrow July 12th to Orlando , Florida to catch X-Men friday, along with other big summer films, and I´ll be back next Wednesday , so I don´t know if I´ll be able to write next week´s column (That's this column you're reading) .
I´ll try to find a computer there where I can access my mail from Brasil, but just in case I can´t I´m letting you know now , ok ? I´ve already warned Ulysses and he´ll send his stuff straight to you I hope. Cool ?
Sorry for my first week off since the column started , not my fault , mom and dad , scheduled the trip as a surprize without telling me until yesterday , but hey , I´m gonna see X-Men and those other blockbusters before any of the suckers down here so it ai´n´t that bad . Its pretty cool!
