Hey Yo, Draven here.
A couple of weeks ago, most of the current writers for AICN got together and brainstormed ideas for new columns and ways to improve the site (besides firing Draven). You guys are going to be seeing a lot of new things from us in the near future and the first is the introduction of the “AICN Movie Club”.
When I brought this idea up, it was for a few different reasons. I really love collaborating with the other writers on the site, I wanted to create a more inclusive column with you guys, and I learn a lot more from discussion with intelligent film buffs. So we decided that each week (hopefully) one of us will pick a film (starting out with glaring omissions from what we have seen) and then each of us will watch the film and then come together to talk about it. There isn’t any structure to our discussions (yet) and they will go in a lot of different directions but hopefully you guys will take part in it and enjoy it.
At the end of each column I will post the next film in our series. The first one that was chosen was Alfred Hitchcock’s SHADOW OF A DOUBT. A lot of people consider this to be Hitchcock’s first masterpiece and Papa Vinyard had not seen it. We had our discussion today and I am in the process of editing it right now (it is long) but I am posting this in case any of you guys want to follow along. If so, watch the film and then come back here and read a really in-depth discussion. If you have any suggestions let us know and stay tuned. I hope to have the first column up in the next couple of days.
