Well folks, Mr Spacely dug up this sproket of news from the Big Guy (another lost leader) himself. Sounds like an interesting if true project. Let's see, so right now we have Ford in the midst of doing an Indiana Jones 4, Space Cowboys, Planet of the Apes and now The Quadranius. We think Ford is working with one if not more of the following talents, Sean Connery, Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Clint Eastwood, Curtis Hanson, James Cameron, Michael Douglas and/or Wolfgang Peterson. Sigh... Don't you just love the rumor mill?
FYI--Wolfgang Petersen is currently eyeing a boffo script from first timer Christopher Chase, tentatively titled "THE QUADRANIUS." Word is the Dream Leads for this sci-fi/actioner would be Harrison Ford and Michael Douglas. Both would play childhood-to-college buddies who end up working on a secret government project involving alien contact. Ford would portray an astronomer and UFO specialist for NASA; Douglas a "Black Box" operative for the DOD. When an extraordinary revelation about the project comes to light, Ford wants to alert the public, but before he can, Douglas is ordered to discredit and disgrace the scientist in a set-up that destroys his career.
When yet another development places Ford's twelve-year-old son, (also Douglas' character's godson) and then the world in jeopardy, the two must resolve their differences to join forces and save the day. Think INDEPENDENCE DAY meets CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND.
Inside sources say that nothing is confirmed yet, but if Sony Pictures greenlights the project, THE QUADRANIUS could possibly be prepped for a summer 2000 release.
