Hello ladies and gentlemen, Muldoon here with this week's lovely selection of shorts for your viewing pleasures. I've had quite the bizarre Saturday myself (waking up in Galveston and now touching this up in Austin), so like you - I'm feeling like some fun shorts are in order. Fortunately, that's exactly what I've got planned, an assortment of unique and enjoyable films made by folks like you and me. Feeling like something animated? Bam! How about some horror? Double Bam! But hey, everything's mixed up here, so give each film a shot and leave your expectations at the door. Come along and ride the filmic pony of cinema: sit back, relax, and just go with the flow. (Luckily however, your computer screen is your screening room of the night, so if something really doesn't seem to work for you, you're in control and you can always tap out. But seriously, you're going to find something that rocks your world here today.) So enough jibber jabber semantics, let's get down to watching some quality shorts, eh?

SLEEP WALK

Right out the gate with a musical masterpiece, we've got a fresh film that's quickly gaining speed across the interweb, from the ever so talented Mark Szumski and Gina Niespodziani we have SLEEP WALK. The film's a trippy lullaby of somberness (I know... I know... Makes no sense - or does it?). It's elequently illustrated and paced to perfection. At just a few seconds short of 3 minutes long, this film absolutely will leave you wanting more. It's seriously a wonderful film to kick off this week with. STAR DRUNK

"Hurray for alcohol!" Oh... shoot, wait that's a horrible, horrible message, alas that's one of the many things I walked away with from our next short, a hilariously (and down right impressive) film written by some lovable drunkards, Chris R Wilson and Zach Persson. "Star Drunk is an experiment in writing a short film while drunk; several writers from Portland got together one night to write the script. We promised each other that whatever we wrote that night, we'd produce as a short film. We ended up creating a Star Trek-Star Wars-Battlestar Galactica'esque parody with laser gun fights and space battles. Taking the concept a step further, we asked our cast to be drunk on the night of filming." So by now it's safe to say you shuld know exactly what you're in for. Let's have at it!

And continuing on our quest of "simple fun" for this week, we've got a rather simple (in story/not technical creation), yet enjoyable film from a Saturday Shorts Alum, Jon Dunleavy (Click here for context!). Jon's got a very interesting point of view, one where he makes the mundane rather insane. Seriously, I have no idea where he gets his ideas, but it's obvious the guy's got quite the imagination. The key is, he's also got the technical know-how to give us all a little glimpse into it. Jon, I'm a fan - keep making fun shorts and sending them my way. - Muldoon

Okay, so as I was arranging this week's selection, I noticed an unintentional theme and... well, I decided to embrace it. Here's another "out there" film from Olivier Bonenfant, a filmmaker who's work I've showcased numerous times (and will continue if this is the level of quality the guy dishes out). It's more bizarre than it is a knee slapper, so heads up. "After missing his bus, Jerome chooses to walk to work. Between depressors and stimulants that fail to balance his mood, his trip will be intense."

Okay, ladies and gents - here's a rarity, an interesting video that caught my eye a few weeks back (Clearly I'm a little behind the curve on internet viral videos, "I'm more than half human" after all). Chances are you've seen this one. "Muldoon! That's a Repost!!" I know, I know, but... if you haven't been fortunate enough to take a visual bite out of this casserole of crazy already, then prepare yourself for an interesting trip into "wtf?" Becky Sloan and Joseph Pelling have a history of creating unique films, so go hit up their website if you're in the mood for more!
