Alan Ball's Next Project Will Focus on the Crazy Story of the Chippendales Founder!

Hey guys! Horrorella here...

With TRUE BLOOD getting ready to take its final bow, creator Alan Ball is beginning to turn his attention to other projects. According to Deadline, the first will be the story of the rise and epic downfall of Steve Banerjee, who founded Chippendales. I AM CHIPPENDALES will be adapted from a book by Rodney Sheldon, and Ball will be writing the script and directing the film.

Banerjee worked as a gas station attendant before he got the whole male stripper craze off the ground in the '80's. As the club's success grew, he fell more and more into the excess that came with it. He hired a choreographer to help him polish the act, and then hired a hit man to take him out after the deal went south. Banerjee was eventually arrested, and died in jail awaiting trial.

The story sounds like MAGIC MIKE had a baby with PARTY MONSTER - a real case of the truth being stranger than fiction. But for my money, nobody has told the Chippendales story better than Chris Farley and Patrick Swayze.

The Banerjee story was originally going to be filmed by the late Tony Scott, but the project never fully got off the ground. Casting is underway now, with production expected to start in January.
