Well this scoop from the ever-present Dr Phibes will get a group of you all excited. I know it did me. I've had Asterix and Obelix comix from France in my life, since... oh age 3 or 4. My parents loved this pair, and well they passed it on to me. I can only hope that the project gets the respect it deserves, and that I can 'get' Begnini this time. I know some of you will hate me for this, but I just didn't 'get' THE MONSTER. Depardieu on the other hand is a god. Well, enough, I should be silent, I hear Phibes stirring...
Dr. Phibes here. I don´t know if your interested in this story, but what the heck:
Do you now the cartoon "Asterix and Obelix"? Here in the old land they are huge. It´s a story about those terrible frenchmen and their fight against the romans (ya now, Caesar and stuff) and the vikings. It seems like good ol´ Gerard Depardieu is going to play Obelix and in other parts Robert Begnini (do you remember his try to do Inspector Clouseau´s son in the terrible Son of the Pink Panter) and Marianne Sägebrecht. The budget is 320 million swedish crones (about 40 million bucks...). This film is going to be huge: gigantic battles, lot´s of good slapstick violence and fantastic special effects! Director is Claude Zidi and will be released next spring.

It´s sad but true: even a legend like me must work. My fortune got lost in Egypt and i am still looking for something to resurrect my dear wife...
