Toy Hacker attends a fan screening of X-MEN and reports

Hey folks, Harry here. Below is a report from Toy Hacker up in New York, now you may remember his Toy Fair Report on early footage, including a description of preliminary effects experiments for Toad that were abandoned for the film (but may be included in the inevitable DVD) Toy Hacker attended a screening that had quite a few hardcore X-MEN fans, and you can hear about the audience reaction in the first half of this review... then... after the CLEARLY MARKED WARNING about SPOILERS... spoilers take place. I dearly wish the first time I had seen this film had been in the company of a large audience of X-fans... I tell you... as someone that grew up with Lee & Kirby (both of whom are credited at the end of the film) all the way through the brilliance of the Clairmont years... seeing these characters alive and real... without an ounce of parody anywhere in sight... it was wonderful. Here's Toy Hacker...

***X-MEN*** MOVIE SCREENING!!!

Toy Hacker here once again, I was the first to bring you the Toy Fair Preview & now the Full movie! Kicks Aaaaaaaaassss!!!

First of all, I want to thank my friend for getting me into the screening by plugging his web site Comic Book & F/X Company(Please post this for him, he'll be so happy & I want to give him sonething back, he's always been so generous to me) www.BeyondComicsInc.com . once on his page, you can click on "Top Secret Project" to his New live action F/X Movie & comic book Staring Darth Vader Himself, Dave Prowse! Thanks Man for getting me in ;-) PS, if the link doesn't work, type it in, or if you have web tv, click here: www.BeyondComicsInc.com/ma in.html

Ok, first off, I will warn you before I reveal any "Spoilers". 750 people were on line of which 68 got in, only the first 2 rows & last 2 rows they would let us regular folk sit in, the rest of the seats were all "roped off" for Press.

Let me start off by saying I was the most doubtful about this whole movie, though I was hoping against all hope that it wouldn't totally suck, I mean the whole debate about the matrix like costumes & Storms fake ass wig etc... but…THIS MOVIE ROCKED! The great thing is that the theater was filled with people who are X-Men fans(the most critical), I saw that most of the press took along their kids, many of whom were btw the ages of 17 - 25 it looked. When each character appeared on screen, they all freaked out & started applauding! Brian Singer Rocks! THIS IS THE WAY A COMIC BOOK MOVIE SHOULD BE DONE!!! The great thing is that they explain everything so it all comes together in a great script! For eg: That Magneto doesn't wear that helmet for no reason, but in fact it's to block Prof.X from reading his mind. They even cover the reason for the new costumes. Wolverine to Cyclops: Wolverine: "I can't believe you really make us wear these stupid black costumes". Cyclops: "What, you would be more happy wearing Yellow Spandex?" Also the actual premiere with all the actors will be held near the Statue Of Liberty on Ellis Island next week.

[Look out, from here on will be some real cool spoilers & story… DO NOT READ ANY OF THIS IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW SOME OF THE BEST SCENES IN THE MOVIE, STOP HERE!]

1944, the war, Rain everywhere, a young, Magneto(Eric) is ripped away from his parents, as the guards hold him back, he magnetically deforms the gate that has locked away his family, the audience now knows the mood of this film is "emotion!!!"

Next, the near future, a young girl has her first kiss…which will be her last after the boy almost dies from the life force of his energy is sucked out of him, introduced is Rogue. The audience is getting hyped! Next, Canada, a bar scene like in the movie "Fight Club" someone is kicking asses, I wonder who that could be? Introducing…

Wolverine! The audience has lost their minds! Screaming out with loads of excitement is an understatement! A great scene where you see Wolverine's Claws Rip out of his skin, the audience… You know, I-I just can't find the words, I too was like 8 years old again freaking the hell out! It truly was impressive & done right! When he retracted his claws, his skin "healed" back up! Rogue bums a ride with the Wolvster as she asks him " does it hurt(his claws ripping through his skin)" Wolv(sadly): "every time."

Great Cameos. Wolv walks in on Prof.X teaching a class for the younger mutants as one of them leaves the room she walks through the wall, "Good bye Prof" she says, "Good Bye Kitty" he replies.

In the background in the class room you see Jubilee & outside some are the Power Pack kids! Inside, Rogue has a new crush on a teenager who with his own mutant power makes her a gift, out of "Ice", his Name, Bobby Drake AKA:"Ice Man"!!!! And the riff BTW Wolverine & Cyclops was fears! As you've prob seen in the commercial, Mystique morphs into Wolverine, after the cool fight, Cyclops asks: "How do I know you're the real Wolverine?" He gets his answer… "Because you're a dick!" Wolverine then Pulls in his two outer claws leaving only the "middle one" exposed as to say F- You Cyclops!

He then gives a smirk! Toad's leg's don't extend as they had done some tests for back in ToyFair, but he leaps & his tongue spits out. He even does a tribute to himself as Darth Maul by grabbing a stick from the elevator & twirling it around Maul Style. Everything ties together & works great! Audience complaint: Everyone afterward wanted it to be longer! Great over all theme with "people being afraid of what they don't understand" etc. I've been waiting for this movie since I was 8 years old & all I have to say is…

"X" MARKS THE SPOT!
