What the &#$% is ZOMBIES & SHARKS?

Greetings, all. Ambush Bug here. Here’s this week’s dose of horror news bits—bite size like the zombies like it!

Exclusive Clip of SATURDAY MORNING MYSTERY!

First up is an exclusive clip from one of my favorite horror films in recent memory, SATURDAY MORNING MYSTERY (formerly SATURDAY MORNING MASSACRE – reviewed here). Here’s the official synopsis of the film; Four professional ghost hunters, who travel in a vintage van accompanied by their canine companion (sound familiar?), get far more than they bargained for when they investigate an abandoned schoolhouse with a mysterious past. The film is directed by Spencer Parsons, is in limited theatrical release now and available on DVD August 20th! Here’s the exclusive clip.

And here’s the trailer for the film.

CRAWL TO ME comic book adaptation gets a poster!

I’ve got the brand new poster for the film adaptation of Alan Robert's critically acclaimed CRAWL TO ME graphic novel from IDW Publishing is headed to the big screen with director Victor Garcia (GALLOWS HILL) at the helm. Producers Rodar y Rodar (THE ORPHANAGE), creator Alan Robert, Jeff Mazzola (THE DESCENT), and Chris White (MY SUPER PSYCHO SWEET 16) are on board. Screenplay by TJ Cimfel and David White. You can find out more about the film here

BOUNTY KILLER Set Pics!

Set to be released on September 6th, I’ve got some key set pics from the upcoming film directed by Henry Saine called BOUNTY KILLER. The film has an eclectic cast made up of Matthew Marsden, Christian Pitre, Barak Hardley, Eve, Gary Busey, Beverly D'Angelo, Alexa Vega.

Here’s the official synopsis; It’s been 20 years since the corporations took over the world’s governments. Their thirst for power and profits led to the corporate wars, a fierce global battle that laid waste to society as we know it. Born from the ash, the Council of Nine rose as a new law and order for this dark age. To avenge the corporations’ reckless destruction, the Council issues death warrants for all white collar criminals. Their hunter’s – the BOUNTY KILLER. From amateur savage to graceful assassin, the BOUNTY KILLER’S now compete for body count, fame and a fat stack of cash. They’re ending the plague of corporate greed by exterminating the self serving CEO and providing the survivors of the apocalypse with retribution. These are the new heroes. This is the age of the BOUNTY KILLER.

Help fund DISCO EXORCIST directors next project, FUTURE JUSTICE!

From the folks who brought you THE DISCO EXORCIST (reviewed here) comes FUTURE JUSTICE, a throwback sci fi apocalyptic film in the tradition of 1990: THE BRONX WARRIORS, 2010: AFTER THE FALL OF NEW YORK, and Walter Hill’s THE WARRIORS. Director Richard Griffin and his Scorpio Film Releasing are currently raising funds via IndieGoGo to ensure that the films action set-pieces are done right, with little to no CGI. Here’s the synopsis; Future Justice is set in the future. Saturn's moon of Titan houses a prison where Earth's worst criminals are kept awaiting their return to Earth for trial and execution. One of those criminals, Python Diamond (Nat Sylva), is being flown back to Earth, escorted by five members of the military police. Upon their return to Earth, they find that a cataclysmic nuclear war has reduced the world to a near-lifeless husk. Searching for survivors and any clue as to the cause of the destruction leads the six to a warehouse bunker housing scientists who constitute Earth's last remaining hope for the future. Unfortunately, their landing spacecraft drew the attention of one of the gangs that roam the ruined countryside in search of food and resources, leading them straight to the carefully hidden and well-provisioned shelter. Low on people and ammunition, Python and the remaining survivors wage a guerrilla battle against the gang amid the twisting confines of the warehouse while, unbeknownst to both sides, a third party enters the fray, leaving carnage in their wake. This dangerous entity finally forces the remaining bandits and the few survivors to band together for mutual survival.

Horrors of Hollywood Exposed in DESPERATE DOLLS Kickstarter!

Another crowd funding horror project worth checking out is DESPERATE DOLLS, touted as a “female driven horror movie”. The film is directed by Darren Callahan and the story sounds intriguing. 1968 L.A. After auditioning for a low-budget film producer, three beautiful actresses become entangled in hypnosis and killing. Below is the teaser trailer.

And here’s the Kickstarter video!

LITTLE MAN OF STEEL to Play at Atlanta’s Dragon Con!

Not really horror news, but genre nonetheless, filmmaker Larry Ziegelman will premiere his new short film LITTLE MAN OF STEEL at the Dragon Con film festival in Atlanta on Labor Day Weekend. The short has already played at Dances With Films in LA as well as festivals in New York and St. Louis. The film is a dark, raunchy romantic comedy about Lois Lane and Clark Kent condom-shopping. This has the all makings of a classic fan-made comic book film.

Writer Overcomes Challenges Creates Soccer-themed Hero – Seeks Artists!

I got this email from a creator seeking an artist who asked to get the word out. Here’s the message:

My name is Aaron D'Errico. I'm a comic book writer from Friday Harbor, Washington, and I've created a Seattle soccer-hero, Ammon, that's part of a global art contest I'm hosting with Talenthouse.com, seeking great artists to draw my first comic book. I was hoping you might be able to share two links about my contest on your website, and any other social media, and or connect me with someone who will champion my cause.

Here’s the first link which links to the video trailer.

The second link I'd like you to share is a segment about my soccer-hero contest by Q-13 Fox Sports/AOL. During the interview I was joined in by Seattle broadcasting legend, and NASL Sounders team co-owner, Pat O'Day.

Artists can submit 3-to-5 pages of original art work based on my 5-page sample script and art that they can download after clicking "Get details". Or they can also submit their previously done portfolio work. The contest goes through December 15th, 2013, and one winner will receive $600 as well as draw the 22-page full-color comic book that will also be a digital motion comic.

If you have any questions, my number is (360)-298-0061
Thank you for your time.

Be well,
Aaron

Best of luck, Aaron!
