Hey folks, Harry here with something special for you Aussies reading the page. You might remember in the past, AICN telling you about where you could hook up and meet Sam Mendes and Anthony Minghella... well.... This time out... you can meet Curtis Hanson. Upon becoming an Uncle this weekend, I decided to call together a meeting of fellow AICN UNCLES, and Uncle Chop Chop came forth with his bloody apron and began spouting off about this latest bragging rights deal about Curtis Hanson.... I countered by telling him.... OH YEAH, well September 16th at the Alamo Drafthouse, We're bringing in William Friedkin. He then said... oh yeah oh yeah... Well that's all the way in September. To which, I said... Oh yeah, well also at the Alamo Drafthouse the last weekend of August and going a couple of days into September is the 4th Quentin Tarantino Film Fest at the Alamo Drafthouse. This did silence him quite a bit. But... ya know... Having met Curtis Hanson at Sundance years ago, I can tell you folks down under one thing for certain... He is a FANTASTIC person to meet. He loves to talk film, and has some great stories to tell. If I were there.... I'd get tickets asap. As for the above two Austin Events... stay tuned for more details soon to come!
AUSSIE FILM-BUFFS - MEET CURTIS HANSON!
Hey harry, it's your good friend UNCLE CHOP CHOP here, with news of a v. cool opportunity for Aussie AICN readers to meet & converse with CURTIS HANSON, the Oscar nominated director of L.A. CONFIDENTIAL and the (vastly unappreciated by the U.S. market but damn fantastic film anyway) WONDER BOYS, starring Michael Douglas and Frances McDormand.
Hanson will be coming down under as WONDER BOYS has been selected to open the Melbourne Film Festival. Never fear, Sydneysiders, as a meet-the-filmmaker event has been organised for your fair city.
