You want to see exclusive footage from THE WAY OF THE GUN.... and... ahem, also laugh your ass off'

Hey folks, Harry here with something special. Christopher McQuarrie... that wacky guy with the big brain that wrote the screenplay for THE USUAL SUSPECTS, and was then one of the group that wrote X-MEN, and who is now tooling away on THE GREEN HORNET to star Mark Wahlberg and Jet Li (according to the rumors in the mill)... well McQ has directed his first film, THE WAY OF THE GUN and well, someone somewhere has cut together a brilliantly funny gag film from pieces of WAY OF THE GUN. On most every film ever made, the editors and director of a film go batty from looking at the same scenes day in and day out, suddenly inexplicably the filmmakers decide... in a mad fury they cut together something inane and purely silly, something as far as possible from the film they've made. And at the bottom of this update is a link to some footage that you'll find just here at AICN... enjoy the hell out of it... I laughed like crazy men...

Harry,

Greetings. Call me Jim Felch. I would ask that you censor this letter for any personal information that might be deemed confidential. My cover for the IMF on my current mission is - the name of which I am afraid will have to remain classified. Christopher McQuarrie's The Way of the Gun, the film is wrapped. What little I have seen of the film is pretty hot. Expect a star turn from Ryan Phillippe and some outrageous violence certain to get a million mom's a marchin'.

But, enough banter - we haven't much time. On to the objective of my mission.

A few months ago, the assistant editor on WOTG was cutting a gag reel for McQuarrie's cast and crew screening and as part of it, he cut together the attached little gem. I think it's pretty fucking funny. Not satisfied with a single viewing, however and deeply distressed that this item might only be shown to McQuarrie's cast and crew, I was ordered by my controller at IMF to assemble a team and take action. As luck would have it, I managed to enter the cutting room through the glass atrium via fastrope with the help of my fellow team members and - well, the details are classified, but lets just say the disc is in the open. I hope you can deliver this safely to freedom.

If any of your members are caught or killed, the secretary will disavow your actions.

My ass will self-distruct in five seconds.

I was contacted by Christopher McQuarrie, who asked me if I'd be kind enough to remove the 'Waysup.Mov' file from access. Not because he'd sue me or anything, but because he was a tad disturbed that folks' first impression of the film would be this... funny... well... here's his words:

While I appreciate your site's kind words regarding the way of the gun, I am a little distressed to see that the first images to represent it publicly would be a worn-out joke cum gag-reel fodder. I would never dare tell you how to run your page, but I would appreciate it if the item in question were removed from further public viewing, at least until people have had a more accurate introduction to the material. Have a good holiday and I look forward to your reply.

Sincerely,

- Christopher McQuarrie

So, since he's made a reasonable request about the matter... I've taken the clip down. And I completely understand it. I mean, the guy makes a serious crime flick, and then this goofy 'ha ha' thing gets out. Giving the complete opposite impression of the film. I hope you folks also understand...
