Meet The Humans Of PACIFIC RIM In This Fourth And Final Trailer!

Beaks here...

Tracking, schmacking. I've seen PACIFIC RIM, and it's amazing. It's also about more than giant robots (Jaegers) throwing down with giant monsters (Kaiju). There are, like, actual human beings in this movie, and how they relate to each other while the world teeters on the brink of destruction gives the film an emotional resonance sorely lacking in much of what passes for summer entertainment nowadays. Best of all, it's not dark. In a fair and just world, PACIFIC RIM would be rated PG so as to separate it from the far more intense likes of THE DARK KNIGHT, MAN OF STEEL and WORLD WAR Z. Guillermo del Toro has made a movie for kids; the monsters are fearsome, but never truly frightening. They're just the bad guys. And it's up to the good guys to stomp their other-dimensional asses. There's nothing unsettling about that.

I'm saying all of this because I'm not sure it's getting through in the marketing. You'll have to take my word for it on the family-friendly content, but as for the human element, this final PACIFIC RIM trailer will hopefully assure people that this isn't an empty-headed, CG-laden extravaganza of the TRANSFORMERS variety. There are actual characters in this movie, and you will give a shit about what happens to them. A novel idea, I know.

Now that we've established there are humans in PACIFIC RIM, let's geek out over Guillermo del Toro's meticulously-designed kaiju in this brand new featurette!
