A teaser trailer hit today for the newest film from acclaimed director Hayao Miyazaki. THE WIND RISES will tell the story of Jiro Horikoshi, the man who designed the fighter planes that were used by the Japanese in World War II. So it doesn't seem to be leaning as heavily toward fantasy as what we typically expect from Miyazaki, but it sounds like it could be an interesting story, nonetheless.
The trailer isn't long and doesn't show a ton of footage, but it is enough to give you a taste of the always-stunning animation work that will be on display.
THE WIND RISES will open in Japan on July 20th, but no release date has been set for the U.S. yet. Hopefully, we will get the opportunity to check it out soon.
