You all know the Mighty Joe Hallenbeck, scourge of the cyberseas. And many of you know of Robogeek, whom Roger Ebert deemed, "a web based expert of anime." Well you couldn't have two more wildly different styles of reporting/commentary. Hallenbeck embodies raw visceral typing at it's best (worst). You literally never know what is going to be said next. He offends all, he is the delivery of what Howard Stern promises. Meanwhile Robogeek is the straight arrow reporter of yesteryear. The 'dot your eyes and cross your tees' type of guy.
What we have here is more or less a calling out, Robo thought it would be fun, if he called Hallenbeck out, to go on the record in a mano a mano wordicuffs over the Oscars. (By the way check out the scoop over at COAXIAL, pretty groovy) Hallenbeck was more than willing to put up his dukes. He turned in the first half of his 'predictions first' which I showed to Robogeek, then Robo sent in his entire prediction list. Now Joe will take a gander and counter, getting the final word till the fateful night. Who will win? I have no idea, but I find this all rather amusing.
First let me warn you about Hallenbeck's predictions. If you are up for any awards at the Oscars I highly recommend avoiding his prediction. He will undoubtedly offend you in his XXX bashing/rantings and praisings. He is an uncontrollable tempest of insanity, but then that's what night after night with Jack Daniels and M&M's will do to ya.
Both of these guys are stating their own opinions, not mine. I have stated my own. These predictions and commentary should be considered as just the opinions of two spies in the vast network of spies. If you are one of the major test screening spies like Aguirre or Moriarty, then please feel free to partake in this little showdown of sorts. Follow Hallenbeck and Robogeek's lead, stay in character and stay true to your own honest opinion. If there is one thing that both Hallenbeck and Robogeek have in common, it is a raw honesty to themselves.
