This Week's SATURDAY SHORTS: A Goodie Bag of Mixed Genre Fun!

Hello ladies and gentlemen, Muldoon here with this week's installment of SATURDAY SHORTS, your very own film fest deep in the heart of AICN-land. Or if you're new here = each week I have the privilege of screening a handful of films submitted by AICN readers. Like most folks, I'm always looking for something new/something I haven't seen before and well, this week I can safely say I've got those bases covered. Seriously, this week's full of "I never would have sought that out, but I'm happy as hell I saw it. Good stuff." Enough jibberjabber from me, let's rock.

Go grab yourself some popcorn, lock your kids in a closet, kill the lights, relax and check out this little weekly film fest we've got ourselves here:

WOMAN WHO HATES PLANTS

TRT: 1:00

(Animation)

To kick things off for the week, we've got a bizarre flick from Morgan Miller. The title pretty much says it all.

LA DONNA E PERICOLOSA

TRT: 0:57

(Fantasy)

And in the spirit of minute or less films, here's a short and sweet fantasy flick from Michael Shlain and the gang over at Butcher Bird Studios. "Thematically inspired by Verdi's RIGOLETTO... an Assassin stalks a mysterious woman in a surreal landscape."

TRANQUILITY INC.

TRT: 7:19

(Romantic Comedy)

Oh the break up... No one ever likes the break up, even if you're the one doing it - you still have to find a way to break the news as drama-free as possible. Well have no fear, director Jaime Neese has scratched the surface of "Why can't I just hire someone to do that for me?" There's a certain degree of "Holy shit, that's creepy, dude." Twists AND turns - I dig this flck and think you guys will too.

ROCK-PAPER-SCISSORS

TRT: 2:12

(Comedy)

From David Keith of Clear Focus Movies Ltd. we get the most glorious "rock, paper, scissors" fight since that one episode of PETE & PETE (reference lost? no worries, just google "My Little Viking"). Seriously though, who wants to watch a film where two guys play this game? With Keith's added bit of flavor, trust me, you do. This is a funny, polished bit of crazy. "Two mysterious men fight it out in the ultimate battle to see who has what it takes to become the undisputed ‘Rocks, Paper, Scissors’ champion."

AIR ON SHELVES

TRT: 22:56

(Drama / Science Fiction)

And to close out this week, we have a clever film from director David Boyadjian. "A young man named Dallas lives in a space suit because he is convinced that there is no more oxygen on earth. A child named William will tell him that he knows where it can be found and will lead him there."

If you have a short and think it belongs here or are on the fence about whether to send it in, please do send it in - I'd love to see what you've put together. I've already seen hundreds of fresh new filmmakers' shorts and like any good addict, I need more!

Shoot me an email at "Mike@aintitcool.com"

In the subject line include:

“SHORTS” + “Your film’s name” + “The film’s genre”

Then, in the body of the email, please include a synopsis of the film and any contact information you might think I need or would want published. The more info you send my way, the more info there is to put with your short.

Please don’t feel the need to submit multiple times.

Remember, the filmmakers might still be in the audience, so feel free to share your thoughts in Talkbacks below. (JUST DON'T BE AN ASSHOLE). I picked them, so you know I think highly of all of these, but how about you fine folks? How'd you like 'em?
