Tony-winning actor, Mark Rylance joins Pierre Morel's THE GUNMAN!!

Hey Yo! Draven here.

More casting news from THR, as they are reporting that two time Tony-winning actor, Mark Rylance has joined the cast of Pierre Morel’s (TAKEN, DISTRICT 13, FROM PARIS WITH LOVE) THE GUNMAN.

Rylance joins, Sean Penn, Idris Elba, Javier Bardem, and Ray Winstone in Sony’s adaptation of Jean-Patrick Manchette’s 1981 novel, THE PRONE GUNMAN. Here is Amazon’s description of the plot of the novel:

Martin Terrier is a hired killer who wants out of the game—so he can settle down and marry his childhood sweetheart. After all, that’s why he took up this profession! But the Organization won't let him go: they have other plans. Once again, the gunman must assume the prone shooting position. A tour de force, this violent tale shatters as many illusions about life and politics as bodies.

Sounds pretty cool, and the book is universally acclaimed so this could good. They have the cast, and Pierre Morel is hit and miss, but with this material and cast he should be able to make a solid thriller. We will see. (I can't believe Luc Besson hasn't adapted this yet. It's an acclaimed French novel about a rogue hitman!)
